This may be the most reissued album ever.

Can anything "unheard" be left to reissue? Guessing "no".

Quote: Bonus Tracks: 13. I'll Call You Mine (Mono Mix) 14. Care Of Cell 44 (Takes 1 & 2 Backing Track) 15. Care Of Cell 44 (Alternate Mix) 16. A Rose For Emily (With Cello) 17. I Want Her She Wants Me (Mono - With Backing Vocals) 18. This Will Be Our Year (Stereo - Without Overdubs) 19. Time Of The Season (Remix) Fellow fans, what's "new" here? I don't recognize tracks #15 and #19, and maybe #17 (unless that's just the regular mono mix?). I think we've already gotten #13, #14, #16, and #18, albeit sometimes under slightly different names.

My copy arrived today. Beautiful package. Sounds good on first listen, but I haven't had a chance to compare it to other versions (the 30th Anniversary Big Beat and the Rhino, I think). I'll do that and report back.

Looking forward to finally seeing this album performed live on Monday night. Very curious to find out how this version of the CD compares to previous versions.

Greg, what is the breakdown of mono versus stereo tracks on this new Varese edition? It's unclear from the tracklist.

Sounds to me like everything from the original album is stereo except This Will Be Our Year, which is mono. The bonus tracks are also stereo except I'll Call You Mine (track 13) and the remix of Time Of The Season (track 19).

If you're seeing the Zombies on the (last ever original members) US Odyssey & Oracle tour (which started tonight in Philadelphia - I went), they're selling the 50th anniversary CD autographed by Rod, Colin, Chris, and Hugh.

I compared this to the other CD versions I have, Big Beat and Rhino. The Big Beat still sounds best to me. It has a full, round, pleasantly warm sound. The Rhino was second, similar to the Big Beat, but a little thinner sound. Unfortunately, this new disc came in third. The sound was thin and crisp compared to the other two, and to my ears even a bit shrill at times. It may have more detail. I wouldn't say it sounds bad, just not as good as the other two on my system. I do tend to prefer warm and smooth sound to more detail, so keep that in mind. Also, I want to mention that this version includes a blurb from Al Kooper, who championed this album before it had an American release after picking up a copy in England and was apparently instrumental in getting it released here. The blurb is printed on the left inside of the digipak, and it's formatted with DOUBLE SPACES BETWEEN SENTENCES. As a graphic design professional, I have a big problem with that. Those spaces are huge and ugly. I cannot endorse such an egregious breach of design decorum.

Btw....The Zombies are featured on the Moody Blues cruise this January. But the ship is sold out already. Talk about a chance to meet the band!
My copy arrived this morning.

Thanks Greg for the review, I also ordered the Big Beat UK version and will compare when I get it next week.
