Description
Grammy Award-winning rock pioneer Boz Scaggs is releasing his new album, A Fool To Care via 429 Records. His most compelling work to date in a celebrated and prolific career, this new collection of songs boasts Scaggs trailblazing blend of rock, soul, jazz and R&B taken to new heights and is the next chapter in the storytelling for which he is beloved. A Fool To Care is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed, Billboard Chart-Topping album, Memphis that the WSJ called, The Wizardry of Boz; and USA Today calling his vocals, Sublime...

With Scaggs' songwriting as distinct as ever, A Fool To Care showcases the masterful patchwork of influences and innovations that make up a Boz Scaggs album. Produced by Steve Jordan (Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan, John Mayer) and recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, A Fool To Care features two very special guests Bonnie Raitt contributes slide guitar and vocals on Hell To Pay and Lucinda Williams trades vocal lines with Scaggs on Whispering Pines.

Tracklist
1. Rich Woman
2. I'm A Fool To Care
3. Hell To Pay
4. Small Town Talk
5. Last Tango On 16th Street
6. There's A Storm A Comin'
7. I'm So Proud
8. I Want To See You
9. High Blood Pressure
10. Full Of Fire
11. Love Don't Love Nobody
12. Whispering Pines

Is this a follow-up studio album to Memphis or something else? I'm prepared for disappointment (like an unofficial live release), but there's always hope. Boz is still in great voice, and I believe he still has at least another solid album in him.

"Caroline International S&D" is a distributor which British major label discs are often listed as when they first go up for pre-order. (Same as Universal UK releases are usually listed first as "Commercial Marketing".)

Jim

my thoughts, exactly!

there are few vocalists who age well - he is among those very few.
and although we haven't heard anything he's personally penned of late,
i'm also confident that he's got the potential for more superb solo material.
in the meantime, i've quite enjoyed his classics departure and pop-revisitings.
the tracks "My Funny Valentine" and "Rainy Night In Georgia" give me the chills - in a good way.

His voice is still very much in good shape. I'd kill, though, for him to get back in the studio with the Toto boys and do another Down Two Then Left/Silk Degrees-style album today. THAT, I'd buy in a heartbeat.

The U.S. version will be available on 429 Records on 3/31/15. The Amazon link is up now. I can't find many details, but apparently it's a new album. Can't wait!

Thanks, Jim, I've updated the pre-order link in the first post. The cover image still shows Hell To Pay, but Amazon USA's listing page says the album will be called A Fool To Care. Probably something to do with the song that Boz performed on British television earlier this month:

Bump: Finalised cover artwork is in the first post now. The album will indeed be called A Fool To Care.

Is there any hope these songs will appear domestically somewhere? Barnes & Noble had an exclusive version of his previous album Memphis that contained several unreleased songs and demos. Most of the time I don't care about bonus material, but I'll go the extra step for Boz.

I just found out that Best Buy will have the version of "A Fool To Care" with the three bonus tracks that were previously thought to be Japan-only. BB will sell the CD for $11.99.

I did the same thing-- canceled my order for the Japanese edition in favor of the cheaper way to get the bonus tracks via BB.

How's the album? A return to form or just ok?
