On March 10, KC & the Sunshine Band will celebrate the spirit of the 1960s with a special covers album called ‘Feeling You! The 60′s‘.

Some words on the record from band leader Harry Wayne ‘KC’ Casey:

“The widespread social and political issues of the 1960s was, in part, the inspiration to do something that would make people forget about their problems and be happy,” said Casey. “People were looking for something that would divert their attention from the negative aspects of everyday life surrounding them.”

“I’m excited for my fans to hear this album,” said Casey. “I really went outside of the box vocally and creatively. Feeling You! The 60′s is autobiographical, showing how I feel about love, life and the world through the music of that era.”

The LP touches on songs originally written & recorded by the likes of Bob Dylan, the Kinks, Ben E. King, the Righteous Brothers, Aaron Neville, Jackie DeShannon and more.

I agree, Jimbo. That's their sound. What else would they sound like, right? "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" will probably be a cousin to "Please Don't Go" (KC's ballad), but otherwise it ought to be disco all the way!

I'm a KC fan. Their self-titled album, to me, is one of the greatest ever, by anyone. Not kidding. I also really like about 3 or 4 of their other long-players.

This new covers album, however, is REALLY bad.

Completely lifeless, none of that "sunshine" sound for which they were so famous. Sounds mailed in. Oh, and they even use auto-tune in spots.

Horrid.

Yeah, I saw the cover, and expected a certain sound that always has accompanied such a cover. Didn't happen.

I suggest folks try a few sample listens online and decide for yourselves.
