Jackson Browne will be releasing a new studio album, Standing In the Breach, on October 7th. The album will be Browne’s first new album of new material since 2008’s Time The Conqueror. The album, Browne’s 14th, will be self-released on the California singer-songwriter’s Inside Recordings label.

The album has ten tracks, including the previously heard 2011 song “You Know the Night,” and “The Birds of St. Marks,” a song that Browne first recorded as a demo in 1970 but has never seen an official studio release.

Accompanying Jackson on the road this fall are longtime band mates Val McCallum (guitar), Mauricio Lewak (Drums), Jeff Young (keyboards) and Bob Glaub (bass), with the addition of acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel, pedal steel). Standing In The Breach, Jackson's fourteenth studio album, is a collection of ten songs, at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life.

“This is my ideal band, with some of my favorite players, all of whom appear on the new CD, and whose combined gifts provide the musical foundation and emotional underpinnings of my new songs,” says Jackson. “The interplay between Val McCallum and Greg Leisz on this album - the effortlessness of their chemistry is a gift really, that just dropped into my lap. I feel fortunate to have them out on the road for this tour.”

Currently, Jackson Browne is on a solo tour thru August 23rd, with two (2) band shows on August 4 and 5, in a co-bill with John Fogerty at PNC Bank Arts Center (Holmdel, NJ) and Jones Beach (Wantagh, NY).

"here" has been available for quite some time also, it has been part of the movie soundtrack "shrinK:, albeit download only as far as i know.

and there is both a short version (around 4:00 minutes) and a long version (around 15:00 minutes) of "you know the night available, again though the short version being download only as far as i know.

FYI:

the is a plethora of jackson browne one-offs out there, some very very difficult to find. between browne and lucinda williams, its a toss-up as to who has more.

I like JB especially when he doesn't feel the need to politic. Last album I really liked was I'm Alive. I just wish he'd stick to writings like that instead of going off on some political tangent. So what's the latest on this new release? Do we get JB the song writer or do we get JB telling us how the world would be a better place if we all took his advice to heart? Just curious!

The only problem I have with his political records is like Bruce Cockburn, he often uses a Latin American style of music along with the politics, & I don't like Latin American Singer Songwriters; just not my style.

Folks, imo this is JB's best album since Hold On Hold Out. It's that good. Do be aware in places it's pretty far to the left politically. Just an fyi..........
