KISS - New Album Due "Mid-2011"
Rock Hard
Posted on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 12:41:10 EST
Cynthia Martin from Yahoo! is reporting:
Being a prolific and talented drummer didn't prepare Singer for all the work it would take to be in KISS - not that he is complaining. "Being in KISS is such a responsibility. Not so much with the work involved, but with the daily stuff - working on the makeup and the two hours it takes to get ready, and all these shoots and meet-and-greets and interviews before the shows. I mean, it's just really steady work being in this band. It's not like when I'm in another band where I just get to sit backstage in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and being like, 'Okay, we're playing in 20 minutes,' and just get up and play."
Singer is grateful for the chance to be a part of rock 'n' roll history, and to work with these iconic mentors. "I get to work with great people who I've learned a lot from and who I've learned the most from. I've learned that hard work pays off. You need to have that kind of attitude, because I've seen how hard you can fall. And you need to stay focused. And that's why we're successful. Aside from all the special effects and stuff, the men behind the masks really have the work ethic and a sturdy kind of focus. And if it wasn't there, you and I wouldn't be talking right now."
With their Hottest Show on Earth tour wrapping in October, KISS is headed back to the studio to create their next musical masterpiece. Due to hit stores mid-2011, and with a tour to follow, their new album is sure to stun and surprise - in true KISS fashion.
Kiss are set to enter the studio in March and hope to have a new album, their 20th, out by the end of the year.
The band's 2009 album 'Sonic Boom' was their 19th full studio release, and marked the first time they'd put out an album for over ten years.
Speaking to Backstageaxxess.com, guitarist Tommy Thayer said: "We'll probably be in the studio by March, so sometime this year I'm sure you'll see a spanking new Kiss album that's going to kick some butt!"
Despite the 11-year gap between 1998's 'Psycho Circus' and 'Sonic Boom', their 19th album turned out to be the band's highest-ever charting album.
"We are starting to work on writing some songs, and we'll approach it just like we did with 'Sonic Boom'," Thayer said of the new album. "Keep it all in the band in terms of the writing, with no agenda besides writing great rock'n'roll songs that we love."
Thayer also said that the new album would once again be produced by the band's frontman Paul Stanley. "Paul knows more what a Kiss record should sound like than anybody," he said, "so he is going to lead the charge and produce it again."

Kiss mainman Paul Stanley says the band have nearly finished work on the follow-up album to 2009′s acclaimed Sonic Boom. “But this album leaves Sonic Boom in the dust,” he says. “It’s awesome and you’ll be hearing it soon.”

Like he would say..."this album is not as good as Sonic Boom, but it is better than Dynasty, but maybe less than Unmasked so we do hope you buy it anyway."

Well, considering that recording began five days ago, that would be quite a feat!

Obviously, we don't know when they actually started recording. I'd assume a fall release and Wal Mart exclusive are in the works as well as the highly anticipated KISS Jell-O.

Gene Simmons has revealed the band already have five brand new songs in the can for their brand new album which he says will be a musical hybrid of two of their most popular albums.
The Kiss main man says long-term fans of the band can expect their much anticipated follow up to 2009’s ‘Sonic Boom’ to sound like a cross between ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Revenge’ and he adds every single song was written entirely by the band themselves.
In an interview with Elliot In The Morning Simmons said: “Yes (we’ve been in the studio), we’re halfway through it. We got five tracks done in two days so it may be the fastest record we’ve ever done and it really sounds terrific and Paul’s really doing a great job.
“All the songs are band written, co-written together with no outside writers. I could describe it for those out there who are Kiss fans as a cross between ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Revenge’ – very similar.
“So there’s no rapping, no mixing, none of that stuff. Straight ahead meat and potatoes, guitars drums and some throat-wrenching vocals.
“We don’t know yet (if it will be out before the end of the year) but what we do know is, in the middle of the recording process in June, we’re going to be going out and doing 15-shows in cities we promised we’d get to that most people don’t get to like Fort McMurray in Canada – really small out of the way places.
“We had a contest about two-years back for people to vote in cities for us to play and we just never got a chance to play them but we keep our promises and we’ll be doing 15 of those shows.”

Dating back to the eighties, everytime a new album is in the works, Gene always says "This album is a cross between Destroyer and (insert second KISS album title here)."

Well, don't bother inserting my favorite Music From the Elder.
