Over the Rhine Announces New Double Album, Meet Me At The Edge Of The World
Published at 4:00 PM on June 5, 2013 BY BENJAMIN HURSTON

Acclaimed folk/Americana band Over the Rhine has announced the release of a new album later this year titled Meet Me At The Edge Of The World.

The 19-track, double album is the 15th studio offering from the husband-and-wife duo of Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, following 2011’s terrific The Long Surrender. The songs were all recorded live and were inspired by the couple’s move to a pre-Civil War farm in southern Ohio eight years ago.

The album was recorded in six days with Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry, who has previously worked with artists like Bonnie Raitt and Madonna. A press release for the album calls it the duo’s “most ambitious offering to date.”

The album release will also be accompanied by a North American Tour. Check out the tracklisting and tour dates below.

Meet Me At The Edge Of The World is out Sept. 3 on Great Speckled Dog Records.

Always liked Over the Rhine and saw them live a few years ago. I think the new album would be better presented as a single disc. There's enough filler and syrupy, generic love songs that could have been cut to make one fine, 45 minute album. The more interesting, better written and produced tracks are so spread out over the 2 discs that it makes for tedious listening at first. Still those better songs make it worthwhile.
