In 1969, a band of sisters called the Shaggs released their only album, Philosophy of the World. The Wiggin sisters' album is a cult classic that has been called one of the worst albums of all time and, famously by Frank Zappa, "better than the Beatles". It was recently adapted into a musical.
Today, the Shaggs' lead singer Dot Wiggin has announced her first ever solo album and her first full-length endeavor in the 44 years since Philosophy of the World was released. Dot Wiggin Band's Ready! Get! Go! is out October 29 via Alternative Tentacles.
According to a press release, the album features never-recorded Shaggs songs, plus new material written by Wiggin and her band. There's also a cover of the Skeeter Davis song "End of the World".
