Editorial Reviews
Fade is the most direct, personal and cohesive album of Yo La Tengo's career to date. Recorded with John McEntire at Soma Studios in Chicago, it recalls the sonic innovation and lush cohesion of career high points like 1997's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and 2000's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out. The album is a tapestry of fine melody and elegant noise, rhythmic shadowplay and shy-eyed orchestral beauty, songfulness and experimentation.

Yo La Tengo have been one of my favorite groups over the past 20 years. So I'm looking forward to this new album. I love Popular Songs (it's still in the rotation). They are playing a series of instores next week in support of the album here in California: http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/ ... am-series/

Looking forward to picking this up after skimming through the album stream. Yo La Tengo is pretty reliable for releasing consistently good albums.

Fade is a pretty nice headphone album. Still, it didn't really pass the car cd player test (vocals too below the mix). "Is That Enough" sounds like a radio-friendly hit.

AAARRRRRGGGHHHHH !!!!

Missed this re-release when it was announced last year. In November 2013, Matador released a 2-CD Deluxe Edition of "Fade", less than a year after the original disc came out.

I wouldn't mind so much if this had been an option at the time of the original release. Or if they put out the extra material as a stand-alone release, so us idiots would not have to buy the first disc for a second time.

Ironically, one of the items listed under "Customers who bought this item also bought ..." is David Bowie's The Next Day Extra, which was another controversial deluxe edition put out just months after the regular one
