Will there be a hard copy set for those of us that prefer to listen to our music without the standard screeching downloading provides?

Absolutely. Here's all the info on the CD release set for next Tuesday (10/27).

Product Description
The special edition 2CD & DVD set will contain a film of the Dublin shows by Vincent Moon and Jeremiah, who previously worked with R.E.M. on Ninetynights, Six Days and the Supernatural Superserious Video. "R.E.M. Live At The Olympia," is a two-CD set featuring 39 songs from their acclaimed 2007 working rehearsals in Dublin, Ireland. R.E.M. set up camp at the venerable Olympia Theatre in Ireland's capital city and tested new material over five nights before passionate, capacity crowds. This live album was produced by Dublin native Jacknife Lee who, along with R.E.M., co-produced Accelerate, the album which emerged from these shows.

Thanks for the update.

I am checking into when it will hit on vinyl. That one will play better as live discs need the better sound.

It is interesting that no live sets (outside of boots) came out during their heydays or even their big records at WB until the very recent Live box and now, bam we get a 2nd set less than 2 yrs later. It looks like a nice let list. Now if Bill would just rejoin them....Hhhmmmmmmm

I've been taking advantage of Instant Rip to pick up records I didn't buy the first time around (how can I pass up getting hard copies and free copies on the cloud?). I just bought this this morning and it's terrific! It sounds great, and so far the performance is very good.

I completely agree with you, Smiff. My love of REM has dissipated a lot over the years, and the idea of a late-era live album didn't interest me until I saw the track listing, and the performance lived up to those song choices. It reinvigorated my interest in them...just in time for them to release one more album and then split up. Anyway, I highly recommend it to anyone who feels the same way about them. It's really that good.

What is Instant Rip? Is this the Amazon service you are referring to or something different?

Oddly enough, was thinking about picking up one of the recent REM live albums myself today.
