Product Description
Running in at ten tracks in 45 minutes, Future This commands your attention throughout. Opening with its first single, "Stay Gold," a track written about doing what makes you happy, so immediate you could be forgiven for thinking they've not been away. From there, the album is paced perfectly, with future live anthems ("Rubbernecking," "1313," "Jump Music"), counterbalanced with a set of songs that show a more subtle side ("Hit The Ground (Superman)," "Give It Up" and title track "Future This").

1. Stacy Gold
2. Hit The Ground (Superman)
3. Give It Up
4. The Palace
5. 1313
6. Rubbernecking
7. Jump Music
8. Lose Your Mind
9. Future This
10. 77

The Big Pink: 'I like our songs but we haven't really found our feet'

The Big Pink have revealed they have no idea what direction their music will take next, admitting they're "just babies" when it comes to recording.

The band released their debut 'A Brief History Of Love' earlier this year, though frontman Robbie Furze admitting they have yet to hone their sound.

"I like our songs but we haven't really found our feet in terms of direction," he explained, suggesting that recording sessions for the record were fraught due to time restrictions.

"We had our heads in our hands at times when we were recording the album at Electric Lady in New York," said Furze, "wondering what we were going to include, going through the list of songs we could use and then whittling it down to 11 at the end.

"We were up against the clock to get the album finished, and a few [songs] just fell by the wayside a little bit."

The band also told Drowned In Sound that they hope to write a new EP while on tour and release it in an unusual way.

Furze said: "We're talking about writing an EP while we're on tour, with all of us contributing various parts, only with a more minimal four-track feel to it. We want to write it on the road, then the second we finish the tour go straight in the studio and record it live to disc, cut it straight onto the record and have it in the shops by nine o'clock the next morning."

The singer also revealed they're planning to incorporate more hip-hop-style beats into their sound.

He revealed: "I've been listening to a lot of Beastie Boys recently and I'm fascinated by the kind of beats the Wu Tang Clan use too."

The Big Pink going 'hip-hop' for second album

The Big Pink have said that their second album will see them turning their backs on indie rock to make a "hip-hop record".

Multi-instrumentalist Milo Cordell, speaking in the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands now or available digitally, said that they were aware of the cliche of indie bands saying they were embracing rap, but that wasn't putting them off.

"A lot of white, middle class bands say, ‘We’re going to make a hip-hop record’, but we’re actually going to do it," he said.

Although the band have talked in the past of being inspired by Dr Dre and Eminem, they have said that they want to record hip-hop in their own way. "In the same way that Massive Attack or Tricky or Portishead are hip-hop in their own way," Cordell added.

The band have just started work on the album with producer Paul Epworth (Florence And The Machine, Babyshambles).

The Big Pink: 'We're inspired by Kanye West'

The Big Pink have revealed that their new album, 'Future This', took inspiration from Kanye West's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.

Speaking to news.com.au, Robbie Furze of the duo explained that he thought West's 2010 album was "amazing". He continued: "That record is almost like a rock indie record - it's the indie rock hip-hop record. It's so musical and pushes things into lots of different areas. That's what we wanted to do with this."

Furze compared their current release to 2009's 'A Brief History of Love', saying their debut album was far more downbeat than its follow-up. "Although I love the first record, it was generally quite a down record," he said. "The gigs had quite a sombre feel, too, so we wanted to create a different type of energy on this record."

He also added that the duo feel like they've done a better job on the new album when compared to their first effort, adding that he had taken singing lessons in advance of the recording sessions. He explained: "It feels like we've taken it to the next level and we've done a better job. We were so excited to get back into the studio, it was more excitement rather than pressure. Going into it we didn't have that feeling of, 'Oh, we have to do the follow-up now'. It was more, 'Get us back into the studio to write new tracks!'"
