Very nice to have an official live document from this lineup. I hope david's voice doesn't crack as many times as it has lately! And, did Roger Dean just decide to draw a turtle over the Keys To Ascension artwork?

I'm looking forward to this. I assume it'll have songs from the Fly From Here & Drama, so in that way it'll be very different than every other Yes live album. I like Benoit David's voice, but I've heard he's been hit & miss in concert.

My first thought was similar, it looks a lot like "Keys". Those 2 sets did horrible sales wise (they FLOODED the cutout/overstock market for several years, especially the purple one); I'm a bit surprised the band wants that look.

I've updated this-as far as I know this is a 2CD/1DVD set and was recorded in 2009 I believe. Why it took so long to come out who knows? So, no Fly From Here material, although they barely played anything from it on this summer's tour anyway (one song all shows but the last, where they played 2 songs). For the upcoming tour I'm sure they will.
I am still very interested in this.
And yes Geff, those Keys albums bombed!

So without Fly From Here material, the question is: how much Drama material should be on this release?

It's the 2 songs they've ben playing all along "Machine Messiah" and "Tempus Fugit". No others have been played. "Machine Messiah" has been breathtaking most shows, while "Tempus Fugit" has been good but played at too sluggish a pace due to Alan White's waning skills-at least on the last 2 tours. If this is from 2009 it might sound better than recently, but it will still be good-just too slow.

Man, they should've played the entire Drama album on at least one of these tours. That's a missed opportunity, since it would never happen with Jon in the band.

Drama may be my favorite Yes album but even I think that's a bit much! No chance that would happen, and it would appeal to too small an audience. I'd of course be pleased and so would you, but that would not be a financially sound move.

I think there would be enough Yes fans who would love to hear them do all of Drama live. Considering they've been able to successfully tour with a new singer, their audience is up for anything. Sure, I know it's a long-shot, but with Downes back in the band, now is the time to do it. At the very least, add Into The Lens and Does It Really Happen into the set.

Prog-rockers Yes have a new live album on the way.

“In The Present—Live from Lyon” will be available on CD/DVD on November 29th in North America and December 2nd in Europe.

Recorded in Lyon, France, on December 1st 2009, “In The Present – Live from Lyon” is a collection of hidden gems and unforgettable classics, with new singer Benoit David breathing new life into each of the songs.

The package comes with a 55 minute DVD containing excerpts from the live performance, candid interviews and behind the scenes footage. The cover art features an original design by Roger Dean, author of most Yes album covers including classics “Fragile,” “Close To The Edge” and “Drama.”

Yes’ powerful compositions influenced a generation of musicians. They have a hugely successful and indelible catalogue of masterpieces; songs like “Roundabout,” a seminal hit which consistently appears on “the best songs of all-time” lists, and the group’s #1 hit “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” taken from the 1983 album “90125,” saw Yes top the UK and US album charts simultaneously.

Yes’ latest studio album, “Fly From Here” – the first in ten years – hit the Top 10 on the Rock Charts and was declared as their “best work since the ‘70s” (Paste Magazine)

“In the Present – Live From Lyon” will be released in a gloss digipak edition. The final tracklisting includes:

Disc One
1. Siberian Khatru
2. I’ve Seen All Good People
3. Tempus Fugit
4. Onward
5. Astral Traveller
6. And You And I
7. Corkscrew (Acoustic Solo)

Disc Two
1. Owner Of A Lonely Heart
2. Southside Of The Sky
3. Machine Messiah
4. Heart of the Sunrise
5. Roundabout
6. Starship Trooper

DVD
Interviews, Excerpts from the Live Show, Roundabout, Machine Messiah (running time approx 55 mins.)

A limited edition gatefold sleeve 3 LP vinyl release (only including the audio portion of the album) will be exclusively available in the European markets.

Yes are on tour this fall across Europe, starting November 3 in Lisbon.

I think this is an excellent live Yes album. Benoit David does a great job with the Anderson songs, but really shines on the two "Drama" tracks, "Tempus Fugit" and "Machine Messiah." It was also nice to hear "Onward," "Astral Traveller" and "South Side Of The Sky." Haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet. I'm a little disappointed that it's not a full show but a "Yes Live Documentary" instead. Other than Jon Anderson loyalists, I think all other Yes fans would really enjoy this.

I actually had to do a side-by-side comparison to verify that they didn't reuse the same Roger Dean from Keys To Ascension 1.

True, Dean's cover is not one of his more original visions. :-) But it does have a turtle. :-)
