Isn't Buell better known for the musicians she's romanced than her musical talents?

Not according to whomever wrote the Amazon blurb:

"It is almost impossible to capture the remarkable life and career of Bebe Buell in a few paragraphs. Her lengthy and respected musical career has shown her to be an important artist with razor sharp musical instincts;a singer, songwriter and performer with a power and command rarely seen in entertainers."...

I have learned to never judge or comment on a performer without first listening to their music, but it sounds like the writer may have fallen prey to Ms. Buell's well-documented considerable talents in other areas.I had no idea she had made any music previously. That said, this intrigues me and I'm certainly going to give it a shot.

I had a 4-song EP ("Covers Girl") released on Rhino Records in 1981. Side One included "My Little Red Book" (Burt Bacharach/Hal David) and "The Wild One, Forever" (Tom Petty) and was produced by Rick Derringer. Side Two included "The Little Black Egg" (Nightcrawlers cover) and "Funtime" (Bowie/Iggy Pop) and was produced by Rick Ocasek. I remember liking it alot at the time, and I thought she sounded like a cross between Patti Smith and Louise Goffin. I also had another 12" picture record by Bebe, but I'm not sure where I have it now, and I also recall liking that (and looking it up online, was produced by Todd Rundgren).

Incidentally, she also released an album, called "Sugar" in 2010:



She covers the Gang Of Four tune "I Love A Man In Uniform" on this latest album, which is bizarrely released on what appears to be Ronnie James Dio's label!

Ever since Andrea True died last month, and I took a couple of minutes to watch the "More More More" video, the song has been stuck in my head ever since.

I listened to the samples-she sounds like a cross between late 70's Marianne Faithfull and Marlene Dietrich.
