With the release of his 6th solo album SEEDS WE SOW, legendary Fleetwood Mac songwriter and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has created some of his most personal and intimate lyrics and songs of his storied and award winning career. From the soft melodic pop/rock tinge of "End of Time", to the album's most rockin' track, "One Take", and the almost lullaby-esque hushed tones of the closing number, "She Smiles Sweetly", the album showcases Buckingham's full arsenal of skills.

Lindsey Buckingham to Self-Release 'Seeds' Album in September
by Phil Gallo, L.A. | June 13, 2011 11:31 EDT

Lindsey Buckingham will self-release his sixth solo album, "Seeds We Sow," on Sept. 6 and embark on 31-city North American tour in September and October. The album's first single is "In Our Own Time."

Buckingham's last two albums, 2008's "Gift of Screws" and 2006's "Under the Skin," were released by Warner Music Group's Reprise Records. "Under the Skin" was Buckingham's first solo release in 14 years.

Best known for his work as guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham unveiled a handful of the album's tracks at a concert in April in Los Angeles that will be broadcast on television in the fall. He was recently honored with ASCAP's Golden Note Award.

"This might be the best work I've ever done," Buckingham said of the new album. "I think it's an excellent representation of what I do. It shows a certain maturity and musicianship and I just feel like I have a lot of tools in my musical vocabulary from which to draw that are again the product of the choices I've made. It's on my own terms. This is very much from the inside out and I hope I never stop doing that."

Here are Buckingham's tour dates:

Closest to me is either Atlanta or Chicago, 6 hour drives either way. At least I got to see him once, in Columbus during his last tour. Renny, you should have driven down for that show.

I can't wait! His last two studio albums are among my favorites, and I like many songs from the others as well. It may come across as heresy, but I prefer solo Lindsey to Fleetwood Mac. <ducking>

Lindsey makes great music, but his album covers are very dull. Not reflective of his unique musical vision at all.

Couldn't agree with you more, Doctor. I always look forward to new music from Lindsay, no matter what the album cover looks like.

They did a Behind The Music on Lindsey about ten years ago and it looked as though the original version of Gift Of Screws was finally going to see a proper release. It had some unusual and intriguing artwork and I was looking forward to the album.

Of course, it never happened.

:sigh:

Didn't some of that material end up on the Fleetwood Mac album "Say You Will"? Or am I confusing that with another of Lindsay's projects?

richman, yes it did. In fact, now that I think about it, Lindsey's BTM was aired after the 2003 Fleetwood Mac Say You Will album and tour. VH1 cobbled it together and I figured it was essentially there to promote Lindsey's solo album he'd been working on since 1996.

I presumed that Lindsey had reworked the 1996 Gift Of Screws in the wake of using some of those tunes for the Say You Will album and was ready to release it after all those years.

Perhaps the Gift Of Screws that eventually did get released has some of those songs, but I really don't know.

Stevie released her newest earlier this year. Every reason for someone to do a guest bill!

Going back to the Mac after learning more on guitar, I was astounded by his level of craftsmanship. If
his solo albums are all that I'll have to try one. There's always YouTube and what not, tho! I really like watching performances
now.

I couldn't agree more. He may have been a little too enamored of the Fairlight synthesizer on that album, but song for song it's probably his strongest solo release. I also love his songs on "Say You Will." That album was missing Christine McVie's touch, so it was more of a Buckingham-Nicks album, but it's got some amazing Lindsay songs.

but "say you will" just sounds like shit!

i still can't believe that buckingham did this, so LOUD, almost to the point of distortion and being unlistenable.

I agree about the sound of that album, but I love so many of the songs.

Only the title track, if I recall correctly. He had already released most on either Say You Will or Under The Skin.
