The classic ’80s-era lineup of Ultravox — Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Chris Cross and Warren Cann, who reunited onstage in 2009 for the first time since Live Aid — this spring will follow up their comeback tours with the 12-track Brilliant, their first new studio album together in 28 years, EMI Records announced today.
The album is scheduled for a May 28 release in the U.K., and will be followed by a yet-to-be-announced, 13-date tour of that country in September and October. European dates also are expected. The album will be the first from Ultravox since 1994′s Ingenuity, and the first from the band’s most commercially successful lineup since 1984′s Lament.
The band’s Ure-led lineup — best known for hit singles “Vienna” and “Dancing With Tears In My Eyes” — reunited in 2009 and subsequently released the Return to Eden live album.

I'm so happy about this! One of my favorite bands-I hope they will tour the US this time around. Man, what a great time for New Wave/New European era fans-new albums or recent new albums from Ultravox, The Cars, Devo, Madness (I know they're ska but they're certainly from that era)-now where's that Adam Ant album (if he's outta the nut farm that is).

Their 'last' LP U-Vox was terrible. I brought that, played it once and it still gathers dust in my archives. Hopefully any new recordings would be better than U-Vox.

Even Midge Ure admits U-Vox was awful. I believe there was reluctance to put out the Deluxe Edition a couple of years ago.

I like some of U-Vox. At least half actually though it is the only weak album, but why would we think that 25 years later they'd make a similar album with the classic lineup???

The first single "Brilliant". I very much like it. It's got that classic Ultravox sound and though it's a little contemporary, I think it's very good and what I wanted to hear.

Just wanted to say how much I am loving this album. Definitely among my favorites so far this year. Am I the only one here who has bought it?
David: Hell no! You are not alone my friend! I am a major, major Ultravox fan and had been waiting for this one for some time. I only recently got it and it does not disappoint. Perhaps a little more MOR than I was expecting, but many of the classic Ultravox hallmarks are here. Glad to see all the good reviews online as well. The album just missed the Top 20 in the UK, so obviously there are still lots of fans out there. If only they toured the US, but I don't see that as possible. This is one of my favorite new releases this year as well.
