Snow Patrol 'definitely releasing a new album next year'

Snow Patrol have announced that they will release a new album next year.

The follow-up to 2008's 'A Hundred Million Suns', the as-yet untitled LP will be out sometime in 2011.

"Definitely next year, at what point we don't know," drummer Jonny Quinn told the Daily Record. "It will be after February and before July. We're going to record new material in October."

As for inspiration for their sixth studio effort, Quinn revealed that being outdoors is proving useful, although admitted that the group write in various places.

"These days, it's better to be out somewhere in the open, by the sea, he explained. "I live by the sea in Ireland and I find that's the most inspiring time, sitting with a guitar on the beach, but we write on the tour bus, in dressing rooms, in the studio and in phone boxes, because no one is using them because everyone has mobile phones."

I think they got a HUGE shot in the arm when "Chasing Cars" was integrated into a highly dramatic episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Looking forward to this...I enjoyed their last three albums a lot! "Chasing Cars" was a favorite, even if it does have a really annoying grammatical error in the chorus. (Can't help it; it's the teacher in me.)

Should be "If I lie here" not "lay" unless he's talking about having sex.

Yes...that's right! And the thing that's especially maddening is that the "lie" verb is used correctly in the very next line!:

If I lay here,
if I just lay here,
would you lie with me
and just forget the world...

Don't get me started on bad grammar in lyrics. "F*** You" by Cee Lo switches the subject of "you" mid-chorus. At one point, it's his ex, and at another, it's her boyfriend.

Snow Patrol post comeback video for 'Called Out In The Dark' online – video

Snow Patrol have posted a comeback video for their new single 'Called Out In The Dark' online.

The clip sees the band's frontman Gary Lightbody replaced by Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Jack Davenport for the video shoot.

While recording for the promo takes place, the Snow Patrol frontman can be seen trying to get back on set to be featured in the video.

The clip for the track was directed by Brett Simon, who has previously worked on The Killers' 'Somebody Told Me'. Watch the clip above.

Snow Patrol previously posted the single online last month. It will be released as a single track and as part of an EP on September 4.

The band recorded the song in Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles with producer Jacknife Lee, who has worked on their previous three albums.

Snow Patrol: 'We've already written our next album'

Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has revealed that the band have already finished writing their seventh studio album.

The band aren't set to release their sixth studio LP 'Fallen Empires' until November, but in an interview with BBC Radio 2, the singer claimed that they had already written its follow-up.

He also described 'Fallen Empires' as the band's best album so far, and suggested that the bouts of writers block he had experienced during making the LP had helped him "write better songs".

He said:

Quote:
We've already written the next album. The last track on 'Fallen Empires' is going to be 'Broken Bottles Form A Star (Prelude)' and that will be the first track on the next album.

When talking about the writing process for 'Fallen Empires', meanwhile, he added:

Quote:
It's the longest album we've ever made by far but also the best. We took our time and I also had some bouts of writer's block. It's the first time it's happened for such a long time. I've had days when I haven't been able to write. Since 2009 I've gone through three writer's blocks but I'm glad because the results are great afterwards. They probably made me write better songs.

Snow Patrol posted their comeback single 'Called Out In The Dark' online last month. The song will be released as both a single track and as part of an EP on September 4.
