No Doubt have begun work on their new album.

Members Tony Kanal, Tom Durmont and Adrian Young are currently working on demos without the presence of singer Gwen Stefani because she is the late stages of her pregnancy.

“We’re taking it very slowly,” bassist Kanal told MTV.com. “(We’re) kind of just going in and writing here and there. Right now, it’s all about the music and being as creative as possible.”

He continued: “We’ve been doing this so long that if we try to set a place to go to, we’ll never get there. So we’re letting that road unfold in front of us. I’m sure we’ll have the same influences, all the reggae and rock stuff we grew up on, and a bunch more, so we can go in a different direction as well.”

The album with be the first new material from the band since 2001’s ’Rock Steady’.

No Doubt head into the recording studio

No Doubt have revealed that they will return to the studio next week to record their first studio album in six years, despite the fact that their lead singer Gwen Stefani will not be able to join them.

Stefani is currently touring her latest solo album ’The Sweet Escape’ in North America, but the remaining members of the band have revealed this won’t stop them heading into the studio.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, drummer Adrian Young explained: "The three of us are going to lay down some songs with music only. When she gets done with the tour we’ll all be there to do it. We’ve probably got four albums' worth of ideas demoed."

He furthered that the new material will be "unlike anything else we've ever made."

The record is expected to be ready for release in 2008.

They'll be at Jones Beach on June 27, might have to look into getting tickets. I wonder if they'll play Gwen's solo material?

So in other words, instead of an album of fresh new material we can eventually expect a live album of familiar songs in familiar arrangements.

No Doubt planning world tour

No Doubt are planning a world tour following reunion dates last year.

The band played shows in North America when they reunited, but Tony Kanal has indicated they now plan to tour further.

"I think it'll [a tour] be even bigger and when I say bigger I mean more shows and around the world," the bassist said of potential dates, adding that the band are currently writing a sixth studio album.

"I swear, we're having more fun than we've ever had writing a record before," Kanal told Billboard.com.

He added: "I think [because] it's been a while, but also because we're older. The fact that we're still doing it together after 24 years - you know, working on music - I think we really appreciate that."

The group's last studio album was 2001's 'Rock Steady'.

Guitarist Tom Dumont took to Twitter to inform fans of the band's plans, explaining that Gwen Stefani and co already had a slew of new songs written and ready to be laid down.

Writing yesterday (January 3) at Twitter.com/nodoubt he explained: "Holidays over. 2010 done. 10 new songs written. No Doubt's 2011 New Year's resolution: to record our new album... beginning today!"

Dumont later added: "To clarify: last year we were in studio mostly writing, just some recording. Starting today back in the studio, mostly recording."

In September last year, No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal revealed that the band are planning a world tour to coincide with the release of their new album.

No Doubt close to completing new album sessions

No Doubt have said they are close to completing their forthcoming album – their first since 2001's 'Rock Steady'.

The band have teamed with Mark 'Spike' Stent – who has previously worked with Madonna – for their new record, which is expected to be wrapped up in two months.

They have been working on the record since 2008 but took a break after singer Gwen Stefani became pregnant. The band have spent the bulk of 2011 recording nine tracks at Stent's Santa Monica studio.

"It's so exciting to have a record coming out," Stefani told Rolling Stone. "And we all want the same thing: for it to be modern and catchy and addictive. Once you make music that connects with people, it's like you taste blood — you can't go back."

After recording two solo albums – 2004's 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby' and 2006's 'The Sweet Escape', Stefani has admitted it felt right to come back to the band.

"I had gone on my tortured journey of working with outside songwriters," she said. "I would throw up if someone made me do that again."

"Writing with other people is a learning experience," bassist Tony Kanal added. "But when you come back, and you're sitting in a room together, it feels like home."

Tracks slated for inclusion on the record include 'One More Summer' and 'Settle Down'.

No Doubt team up with Beyonce and Nicola Roberts producers on new album



No Doubt have announced that they have teamed up with production team Major Lazer on their forthcoming album.

The band posted a picture on their Twitter of themselves with super producers Diplo and Switch, who make up Major Lazer.

They wrote: "Happening in the studio right now" and revealed the track they were working on was called 'Push And Shove' with the production superstars.

Major Lazer have recently collaborated with Beyonce on 'Run The World (Girls)' as well as with Nicola Roberts on her debut solo single 'Beat Of My Drum'.

Last month, No Doubt said they were close to completing their new album, which will be their first since 2001's 'Rock Steady'. They have been working with Madonna and Depeche Mode producer Mark 'Spike' Stent for their new record, which is expected to be wrapped up in the next two months.

Gwen Stefani: 'No Doubt's songwriting process is desperate'

No Doubt have spoken out about their first studio album since 2001's 'Rock Steady', with singer Gwen Stefani calling the band’s songwriting process "desperate".

The band are set to release their sixth album later this year. The album will include songs entitled 'Undercover', 'Settle Down', 'Easy', 'Heaven' and 'Dreaming The Same Dream', the latter of which Stefani called a "prom song". When asked if the new record has a theme, Stefani replied:
