'House''s Hugh Laurie to record blues album
Actor Hugh Laurie has announced plans to record an album.
The star of US TV series House and British comedy legend is putting together a record of New Orleans blues, which will be recorded this summer and autumn with producer Joe Henry.
Multi-instrumentalist Laurie has regularly performed within his acting roles, notably in A Bit Of Fry And Laurie and in the adaptation of Jeeves And Wooster with Stephen Fry.
"I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity," explained Laurie of his record deal. "I know the history of actors making music is a chequered one, but I promise no one will get hurt. I am particularly thrilled to be working with Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favourite records of all time, and I can't wait to get started."
A release date for the album has yet to be announced.
