Rod Stewart to make a blues album w/The Cadillac Records Band.

w/ Barrelhouse Chuck, Kim Wilson, Steve Jordon, Larry Taylor, Billy Flynn,
Each track will have a guest guitarist, i.e. Hubert Sumlin, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy,Page, Jeff Beck, Cray, Trucks, Randolph, Wood, Mo',
Mayer, Guy, Lee and maybe even Richards!

Kim Wilson's a harmonica player who was with the Fabulous Tunderbirds. Steve Jordan's a drummer and Larry Taylor plays bass, mostly studio musicians, I think. I'm not familiar with the other two.

Don't worry, Clive Davis will fix this.

My thought exactly. This will never happen under Clive's direction. Ever.

It's too right for that to happen. Sounds too organic and rootsy.

A robbery at their studio a week before Rod is due in should do the trick..just like the Daptone crew a while back...

Clive Davis will either corrupt or subvert this project. You watch.

Stewart may succeed in f''ng it up fine by himself, but one can only hope.......... I would think if the intent was to make real British blues rather than pop CRAP like the GAS series, that Jeff Beck & Ronnie Wood would be all over this.

Rod is now apparently working on two albums.
Both may feature Jeff Beck in some capacity.
One may be blues.
Rod is songwriting again (about divorce, his childhood etc etc) and seems happy that after 17 years he actually can..
His band keyboardist Chuck Kentis is producing and band guitarist Paul Warren is playing on it (apart from one song on Soulbook, his touring band have not featured in over a decade really.)
Some recording done in Studio City Sound using 2" analogue tape..

All good..

(oh, and he is currently out of contract so J / Clive are not currently involved. That has to be good).

Maybe there's some redemption for Rod after all. But still, I won't get my hopes too high.

Paul Warren has written about 5 songs for this project.
19 tracks have been done with lyrics & vocals to be completed.
Kevin Savigar is working Rod again (and collaborating with guitarist John 5 - of Rob Zombie - on some songs.

Rod has also left J and joined Universal...bye Clive

if Stewart was really serious, he might enlist the assistance of The North Mississippi Allstars (as EC shoulda done on his tribute to Robert Johnson a few years ago!)...

I expect to see "The Best of the Great American Songbook: Volume Two" before I see a blues album from Rodder. Then maybe a special packaging of the two Best Of discs with a special bonus disc of outtakes and alternate versions.

Well, if that happens Rod will have as little to do with them as he does with the regular comps that Mercury fire out of his seventies stuff - he has left J Records..

February looks like the release date for this.
Rod has said that he now written 8 songs for it.

He is now with Universal, J are out the door..

Put simply, he doesn't have the pipes for those songs anymore.
