Product Description
2010 debut album from singer/songwriter Rumer, the follow-up to her successful EP, Slow. Musically, Seasons Of My Soul is influenced by Rumer's upbringing, which takes in a childhood spent in an enclosed, exotic expat colony in Pakistan. Here, her family would often sing and write songs together, determined to provide their own entertainment in the absence of TV or newspapers. Then, they relocated to the New Forest, where Rumer first saw a television, and married her love of the Folk tradition with the sweeping melodies of the technicolor movie musicals. It is a blissful harmony, which you can hear in the likes of 'Slow' and 'Come To Me High'.

1. Am I Forgiven
2. Come To Me High
3. Slow
4. Take Me As I Am
5. Aretha
6. Saving Grace
7. Thankful
8. Healer
9. Blackbird
10. On My Way Home
11. Goodbye Girl

There's a new singer from England who goes by the name of Rumer. Her voice is being compared to Karen Carpenter and some other 60s-70's pop icons -- I can hear a little Karen Carpenter, but I think it's style as much as her actual voice. She reminds me more of A Girl Called Eddy (who released her only album a few years ago). The samples on her website and MySpace sound pretty good:

The story is, Burt Bacharach loves her and flew her to California to sing for him. She has a style that could fit nicely with a classic Bacharach song; no word on any collaboration, though. Her album has just been released and is available directly from her website and Amazon.uk., and from Amazon USA as an import.

I love this kinda stuff.

(No, it's not Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter, who is also named Rumer.)

Very nice. "Slow" does sound a lot like Karen Carpenter. In other songs she sounds very much like Beth Rowley. And I hear Dusty-isms every now and then, too...

Got this CD in the mail the other day. Very nice. If you have an aversion to the Carpenters or Burt Bachrach-type 60's pop, don't bother. But if you like that kind of thing, this is very, very good.

Picked up a copy of this from CD Wow. Definitely hearing the Karen Carpenter comparisons, as well as Beth Rowley, and maybe some Zooey Deschanel. I really like Bachrachian stuff when it's done well, and this is done top notch.

The latest news from Rumer:

‘Rumer Sings Bacharach at Christmas’
Rumer is set to release ‘Rumer Sings Bacharach at Christmas’, a special one-off collaboration with the legendary Burt Bacharach and acclaimed American playwright Steven Sater. The set will feature a brand new Bacharach composition, ‘Some Lovers’ – not featured on her debut album, ‘Seasons Of My Soul’ - together with her beautiful take on the classic ‘Alfie’.

‘Rumer Sings Bacharach at Christmas’ will be released on a limited edition 7” vinyl, designed by Rumer herself, and will also be available to download and buy on CD from December 13th.

As a special Valentine's treat to her fans, Rumer recorded a cover of Joan Armatrading's "Love And Affection" and offered it as a free download.
