Elaine has been putting the finishing touches to her new "Duets" album for WEA which is produced by the legendary Phil Ramone. The album is tipped to include duets of Elaine singing with such internationally renowned recording artists as: Paul Anka, John Barrowman, Michael Bolton, Olivia Newton John, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Billy Ocean, Le Ann Rimes, Jon Secada, Neil Sedaka and Dionne Warwick.

ELAINE Paige, the great West End musical theater star who originated the title role in "Evita" and Grizabella in "Cats," is in town taping her popular BBC radio show and recording an album of duets for producer Phil Ramone.

She's singing with Dionne Warwick, Johnny Mathis, Neil Sedaka, Olivia Newton-John and Barry Manilow. The album will not be musical theater songs but easy-listening ballads from the '70s and '80s by Manilow, Bread, Air Supply and others.

Stuff people used to get stoned to, right?

"Something like that," she says with a laugh.

"If you're over 20, you can't record any new songs. But I've managed to get one on there. It's a new song by Tim Rice called 'It's Only Life,' which I'm doing with Sinead O'Connor. It's very dark but very beautiful."
