2009 DVD, featuring the latest incarnation of Vanilla Fudge with core members Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice alongside newer members Teddy Rondinelli on guitar and Bill Pascali on keyboards; the group tackle classics 'Season Of The Witch', 'She's Not There' and of course 'You Keep Me Hangin' On', plus, somewhat bizarrely, Rod Stewart's 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy' and the Backstreet Boys' 'I Want It That Way'!

No Vanilla Fudge reunion ever features both Mark Stein & Vince Martell, and this one features neither.

Not getting into the line-up debate, can anyone shed light on the difference between When Two Worlds Collide and Orchestral Fudge Live? The latter seems to have a few less tracks, but is it the same show, or a studio album, or what? Why would there be two different versions of the same album with two titles and different covers released around the same time, one with a few less tracks?!!

Unfortunately, the group's official website doesn't list either of them in the discography, e-mails to the webmaster Pete come back as a bad address and the reviews on Amazon don't clear this up.

Can anyone? Thanks!

Hi,

Pete here, Vanilla Fudge webmaster. I'm sorry the email address was bad. The site was compromised for a while, and I was inundated with spam so bad, with very few valid emails, I had to turn it off. I was alerted to this post actually by Mark Stein. I had to sign up and it took a couple days for my account to be verified so I could answer.

Anyhoo.. the answer, which I got from Carmine, the DVD was released in more than one country on different labels. They apparently choose which and how many tracks they will release, but Carmine says it is the same DVD. And neither Vinny nor Mark Stein are on it. It features Carmine, Tim, Bill Pascali and Teddy Rondinelli.

Peace,
pb

Hi Pete...wow, interesting way to hear from you — via Mark, reading these posts and alerting you! Sooooo, hi Mark ... are we ever going to get the Boomerang album on CD, preferably with "Montreal Jail" as a bonus cut, not to mention possibly some of the unfinished 2nd album tracks that are out there?

But I digress ...

My confusion is over these two CD releases — not a DVD — that came out about three months apart in 2008:

Orchestral Fudge (March '08) - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00133KDVO/?tag=imwan-20

When Two Worlds Collide (June '08) - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00172AB4U/?tag=imwan-20

The latter has — obviously — a different title and cover, and a few more tracks, but from what Carmine says about the DVD, I assume the CDs as well are both taken from the same source. Meaning, all one needs is WTWC. Yes, major bummer Mark and Vinny aren't part of it, but I'm also a huge Tim and Carmine fan and love the songs, so ... gotta have it.

Thanks Pete ... and Mark ... and Carmine.

Hi Geof,

My bad. I had DVD on the brain because it started with the DVD. I meant CDs. I too am a fan of all of all the originals, so I understand that you would want other projects Tim and Carmine are a part of. I'm a Cactus fan, Boomerang fan... anything any of them had anything to do with mostly.

Also for Phil Cohen, I tried to post a reply to him but apparently it didn't post. Obviously I've never posted here before. I'll repost it here. Respectfully, not true Phil. The 2005 CD Out Through The In Door, the Led Zep tribute CD is nothing but Mark, Vinny, Tim and Carmine complete. Also, they reunited in 2006 for a show following their induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (video on Youtube search Vanilla Fudge pattymark), and yet again in 2008 for a short tour of the East Coast. There is talk about another one next year.

Mark, Vinny and Carmine will unite on October 21st to play a gala benefit for Little Kids Rock, an organization that supports music programs in schools in underprivileged areas, at BB King Blues Club in NYC. It is supported by the Dr. Phil Foundation, the NAMM Foundation, and Fender. Unfortunately, Tim cannot make this one. I will be playing bass, but Tim is expected to return next year. So, "original" reunions, I'm happy to say, are happening even if few and far between.

Peace,
pb
