Product Description
Accept's history dates back to the days when heavy metal was just in its formative stages. The band's first incarnation was put together in `68, but their first album came in `79. Over the course of their early career, they've written several influential songs and albums and helped define what heavy metal has become. Their most famous song, "Balls to the Wall", has been featured in Guitar Hero Encore: The 80s, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, 08's Oscar Award-winning movie The Wrestler and was #38 on VH1's Top 40 "Greatest Metal Songs". That album has even gone Gold in the US according to Billboard, no small feat for the genre! Now, after a decade away from the heavy metal scene, Accept have returned with a renewed strength, enthusiasm and a new album that hits you with that unmistakable, classic sound. Blood of the Nations is every bit as voluminous as the band's legendary releases with new metal anthems that carry on their legendary tradition. This vibrant and mesmerizing album harnesses everything that earned Accept the status of true heavy metal legends: thunderous riffs, blinding guitar leads, aggressive vocals and infectious, undiluted metal songs with a bite that are destined to once again put Accept ahead of the pack.

I love Accept-one of the great Metal bands of all time. But without Udo, no Accept. They failed twice before with American singers, why again?

From Anti Music.com:
German metal legends Accept have signed a new deal.
The reunited band are now with Nuclear Blast. The label will be releasing Accept’s comeback album, Blood Of Nations, in the summer. It was produced by Andy Sneap.
This will be the band’s first release with new American vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex-TT Quick) and will be released later in the year.

ACCEPT: 'Blood Of Nations' North American Release Date Announced

Nuclear Blast Records has set a September 14 tentative North American release date for "Blood Of Nations", the new studio album from reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT. The band's 15th LP was recorded at Backstage Studio in Derbyshire, England with acclaimed British producer and SABBAT guitarist Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE). The CD — which will mark the recording debut of the band's latest addition, vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex-TT QUICK) — will contain around 14 tracks, including "Shades Of Death", "Blood Of Nations", "Pandemic", " Teutonic Terror" and "The Abyss".

ACCEPT recently filmed a video for the song " Teutonic Terror" in Los Angeles.

"The Abyss" was premiered on Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM and then again on KNAC.COM's "The Vault" on March 21 with host DJ Will.

Following their eagerly awaited return to the live stage at the almost-sold-out Gramercy Theatre in New York City, ACCEPT will be heading to Europe to perform special shows in carefully handpicked venues in various European capitals.

ACCEPT has chosen to play these publicity concerts in small, intimate settings to get close to its longtime fans.

Following the CD's release and the intimate European "fan-focused" shows, preparations for a full-fledged world tour will start this summer.

"We can't wait to go out and play again," said bassist Peter Baltes. "Just because [former ACCEPT singer] Udo Dirkschneider isn't available to take part in the reunion doesn't mean we'll have to sit idle any longer. We feel Mark is the perfect fit. Mark is an experienced veteran singer who is aware of the ACCEPT legacy and his voice fits the sound of ACCEPT perfectly.

"Wolf [Hoffmann, guitar] and I have always been the songwriting team — most of the classic ACCEPT tunes were written that way; together with Deaffy, a.k.a. Gaby Hoffmann, as a lyricist."

Regarding Tornillo's addition to ACCEPT, Hoffmann previously said, "It all happened in minutes. Peter and I were working on some tunes in a studio in New Jersey. Somebody suggested we give this guy Mark a call to see if he would join us on vocals. So when he arrived we started jamming on some old ACCEPT tunes — just for fun. As soon as Mark started singing we looked at each other and realized the impossible just happened: we found a new voice for ACCEPT! The timing could not have been better! Now or never... We are re-energized and excited..."

ACCEPT 2010 is:

Wolf Hoffmann: Guitar
Peter Baltes: Bass
Herman Frank: Guitar
Mark Tornillo: Vocals
Stefan Schwarzmann: Drums

I've heard two new songs and I have to say they're frickin' good. Really good-especially "The Abyss". Tornillo does the UDO growl pretty well. And a tour with King's X? Sounds pretty good to me! Probably to Ted as well? I may have to go to Sayreville for this one.

This is from the Brave Worda and Bloody Knuckles website and includes a review.

Reactivated metal legends ACCEPT will be supported by KING'S X for shows in the US this September/October. More dates have been announced, and now include:

September
23 - Poughkeepsie, NY - The Chance
24 - Baltimore, MD - Ram's Head Live
25 - Sayreville, NJ - The Starland Ballroom
27 - New York, NY - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
29 - Foxborough, MA - Showcase Live

October
1 - Reading, PA - The Silo
2 - Mount Clemens, MI - The Emerald Theatre
9 - Chicago, IL - The Arcada
12 - Dallas, TX - House of Blues
13 - Houston, TX - House of Blues

Accept recently signed with Universal Japan for their comeback album, Blood Of The Nations. The release date has been set for September 4th.

Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann comments on the deal: "Japan was our last missing component in the international marketplace, which we have completed now with Universal! They are the perfect partners for us over there. Japan has always been a terrific market for us. We had tremendous success there in the past, so we are very happy to come back to Japan after all these years.

Rock music is still a big thing in Japan and every good rock band in the world has Japan on their wish list. We can see from our website that we have a lot of fans there. We are excited and looking forward to bring them our new album and our great live shows."

Blood Of The Nations will hit the streets on August 20th in Europe and September 14th in North America. An exclusive track-by-track run down by BraveWords.com scribe Mark Gromen can be read below:

‘Beat The Bastards’ – A real kick-off to the album, especially in light of the two pre-released singles which follow: “Cut the ripcord, don’t look back. Burn the bridges down. Grab the hammer, clench your fist. Beat the bastards down!” Come the chorus, could be forgiven for not knowing about any substitutions at the vocal position. A classic Accept rocker!

‘Teutonic Terror’ – Mid-tempo, with Tornillo’s gritty voice at the fore, screeching into higher register. Multiple voice ‘whoa, whoa’ chorus.

‘The Abyss’ – opens with slower Accept trademark, then delves into less conventional territory, albeit build around Tornillo’s Udo-inspired rasp (chorus). When they threaten to venture down the Accept of old pathway, veers off, preferring not to be a carbon copy of those classic riffs (as found elsewhere). Brief mid-section of piano and smooth voice. Just six seconds short of seven minutes in length.

‘Blood Of The Nations’ – With both Peter Baltes (bass) and Wolf Hoffman (guitar) living in the USA, the lyrical standpoint deals with the role of serving as global policeman, even if it’s talking about a coalition of nations, in partnership. Can’t prove it, but have a sneaking suspicion that an “s” was added to the title, just to make it more palatable, internationally. Particularly the group chorus gives it a mid-tempo HammerFall feel.

‘Shades Of Death’ - Longest song at 7:33. Acoustic begun, alongside symphonic strings. Never gets above the ‘Neon Nights’/‘Dogs On Leads’ tempo.

‘Locked And Loaded’ – Sounds like something Halford might have written (come to think of it…). Searing Priest twin leads!

‘Kill The Pain’ – Acoustic begun, alongside symphonic strings. Unsuccessfully attempts to recreate the magic of ‘Seawinds’.

‘Rollin Thunder’- Upbeat, chugging Accept riffs, but the way Hoffman ends the song, just going off on guitar is what makes the tune.

‘Pandemic’- a mid-tempo ode to the music we all love: “It’s a metal disease.” Simple, repetitive lyrics/chorus and trademark guitars. Can almost envision the onstage, synchronized guitar sway.

‘New World Comin’ – Despite the start, definitely, the least “Accept” of the bunch. Come the chorus, you can hear the New Jersey influence, in the form of Bon Jovi “whoa, whoa”. Bluesy.

‘No Shelter’ – the comeuppance for an unspecified white collar criminal. Alternates between piston pumping, proto thrash and more subtle parts, accent heavily on the former. Think ‘Losers & Winners’. Again, Hoffman goes fretboard crazy in the final third.

‘Bucketful Of Hate’ –The sporadic music box notes which open give way to more of that trademark Accept riffage. Tornillo wails the titular phrase atop backed chorus, ends with a sitar sounding flourish and gradually fade-out downbeat melody. Probably better closing songs elsewhere on the disc.

Given my (considerable) reservations about continuing without the recognizable Dirkschneider, to say nothing of their less than impressive (plodding, one dimensional) previous stabs at resurrection: Death Row and Predator, this is a VERY pleasant surprise. Apparently there’s plenty of ideas left. Bring ‘em on!

Eh, I've got mixed feelings about it. I appreciate Accept (how could I not? I went to HS in Germany in the mid 80's when my dad was stationed there), but I think the pairing is a bit of a mismatch. King's X has been having a hard time finding a tour that gives them much chance of expanding their fanbase, and I don't think the people coming to see Accept is going to be it. That and the fact that there's no way in hell they'll ever make it to Hawaii pretty much kills my interest!

Still, it's good to know King's X is getting out there. With dUg now living in L.A., Ty in Houston and Jerry back in New Jersey, I'm not sure how conducive it will be to them doing a whole lot more (recording or touring).
