Go to the Temporary Residence website to get a look at the packaging for this thing. Both the 3-sided vinyl and cd are in elaborate fold out cases that must've cost a fortune to put together. I assume they're not looking to make money on sales. Great, great instrumental band, by the way. Completely transporting.

Cool. I was wondering when they would put a new record out.

I'm a big fan of this kind of music (postrock instrumental doom stuff) and these guys do it as well as anybody. "The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place" is a fantastic album, and the one after that, although not quite up to that standard, shows them trying to expand their sound a little bit. Curious to see what this one sounds like.

Other bands in this genre I love: This Will Destroy You, Russian Circles, Do Make Say Think, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Mogwai.

Godspeed and Mogwai are sort of the fathers of the genre, and although Godspeed doesn't have the instrumental chops of Russian Circles or Explosions in the Sky, their albums have a raw, emotional energy that's difficult to find in instrumental music.

I find myself liking instrumental music more and more (this kind and jazz especially). Maybe it's because I'm a writer and I work with words everyday and I want a rest from them when listening to music, or maybe it's because so many lyrics are less-than-good.

Anyway, I'm rambling now. This is good news.

I got into EIIS from hearing their "Friday Night Lights" work and quickly started chasing after the other stuff. Very enjoyable.
