Teenage Fanclub's first new album in five years will be called 'Shadows' - and is out on May 31 in the UK (June 8 in the US).

The album will feature 12 new songs and will be their eighth studio album proper. A single, 'Baby Lee', will be released a week ahead of the album on May 24.

Teenage Fanclub will also go on a UK tour, which kicks off in May.

First impressions of this are that it's a bit like eating some toast. It's not going to change the world, but like toast it's not going to be a massive letdown either. It's going to do the job & at times make you go "mmmmm.. i needed that toast"

They're basically what Alex Chilton would have been if Big Star had kept going for 20 years & he hadn't been insane. Instantly 'accessible', but easy to just browse past that.

Still - I can guarantee you this will get 100+ plays on my iPod. All of their stuff has.
