Product Description
Fans of 'A Nightmare Before Christmas', 'Rocky Horror', and 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' will love Evelyn Evelyn, the world's only conjoined-twin singer-songwriter duo. With a background in circus performance and a wide range of musical influences, the twins compose original timeless songs full of humor, sadness, and double entendre.

The multi-talented sisters move gracefully through genres - from ragtime to 80s power ballad - at times reminiscent of the Andrews Sisters, at others like the soundtrack to a long lost Broadway musical. Their songs range from the country-tinged 'You Only Wany Me 'Cause You Want My Sister' to a heartbreaking ukulele rendition of Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. Discovered, and richly produced by Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls) and (Seattle cult-musician) Jason Webley, this epic album - three long years in the making - is the twins' debut recording.

Goth-cabaret star and Dresden Dolls leader Amanda Palmer has always been one to indulge her most theatrical ideas, whether through her high-drama music and live shows or more oddball ventures, like working on a Neutral Milk Hotel-inspired high school play or publicly, through song, asking her label to drop her. But Palmer's newest project may be her grandest and weirdest yet.

Together with punk troubadour Jason Webley, Palmer has "discovered and launched" Evelyn Evelyn, a duo of conjoined twin performers. Or that's the story, anyway. Given the general fantastical bent of the twins' saga, it seems pretty safe to assume that Evelyn Evelyn is actually Palmer and Webley themselves.

Here's the backstory, according to a press release: Twins Lyn and Eva Neville were born in 1985, and their mother died during childbirth. When they were 11, they joined Dillard and Fullerton's Traveling Circus, which does not appear to be a thing that exists in real life. After a while, the twins decided to leave the circus and pursue a music career, and Palmer and Webley discovered them via MySpace and decided to help them release music.

On March 30, Evelyn Evelyn will release their self-titled debut album via Eleven Records. If you believe the story, the twins play piano, guitar, ukulele, accordion and drums on the LP. The album includes a ukulele-driven cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and a power ballad called "My Space" that features a fairly stunning lineup of famous folks on backup vocals: "Weird Al" Yankovic, Andrew W.K., Tegan and Sara, My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way, and the goth-pop author (and Palmer's fiancé) Neil Gaiman, as well as -- holy shit -- Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, who probably knows a few things about feeling weirdly removed from society ever since birth.

Also on the way: A graphic novel about the twins' life. Artist Cynthia von Buhler will illustrate the tome, and Dark Horse will release it. Also, Evelyn Evelyn will tour Europe and North America later this year, and it'll be interesting to see how they pull this thing off onstage.
