Little Man Tate ask fans to name new album

Apr 29, 2008

Little Man Tate are launching an exclusive competition to name their forthcoming second album.

The record is due to be released in August, and they want their fans to be involved in giving it a name.

The competition coincides with the launch of Little Man Tate's new website tomorrow (April 30), and will be open to all registered members of the site.

Singer Jon Windle said: "We owe our fans massively for all their support so far, and want them to feel a big part of this new record that we're really proud of.

"The album is a thank you to them, and we know they're going to love it."

As well as naming the record, the winner will also receive a pair of tickets to a forthcoming gig of their choice on the band's May tour, a thank you in the album sleeve, and a signed copy of the album.

Log in to http://www.littlemantate.co.uk on April 30 for more details.

The group will release their new single, 'What Your Boyfriend Said', on June 2.

[bigred]Standard Edition[/bigred]

Product Description
2008 sophomore album from the Sheffield band. Following the band's belting return with new single, 'What Your Boyfriend Said', Little Man Tate unleash an album that signals an exciting new dawn for the quartet. Little Man Tate's story began in 2006 amid the musical storm that befell Sheffield. With an honesty and wit akin to a youthful Damon Albarn, outspoken young vocalist Jon Windle was writing songs that documented everyday life with lyrics that twisted, turned and manipulated his observations of the city. The album is bold, brassy and suitably buoyant & the giddy testosterone that fuelled their debut is still ever-present. Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy is the band's call to arms and proof that passion and good, positive songs are what really matter at a time of industry anxiety. 12 tracks including the singles 'What Your Boyfriend Said' and 'Hey Little Sweetie'.

2. What Your Boyfriend Said

And here's the CD single:

Product Description
2008 UK 2-track CD single - Musically, the band's Britpop-informed songcraft have side-stepped leftfield for giddy & intoxicating, guitar-charged, sing-a-long rollicks with a darker, deeper tone. Punchy & powerful, 'What Your Boyfriend Said' is a fascinating introduction to the new record, and heralds the next exciting chapter in Little Man Tate's rise as bustling, bruising, and anthemic British indie-rockers with a clear voice; includes the previously unreleased b-side recording 'Shark Bite'.

And one more video just to indulge myself here. :) This is a British television performance of the song "Time For Anything" from last year. It's a real "Mod anthem" (no mean feat, that, considering LMT aren't Mods) and the studio version on the album is probably my favourite song of 2008:

Little Man Tate split

Jul 13, 2009

Little Man Tate have announced they are to split up.

The Sheffield four-piece made the confirmed their decision on Myspace/littlemantatemusic, telling fans it was time for them to call it a day.

They wrote: "It's something that we have sat down and discussed at length for a while now and we have decided that after a good innings, we've achieved what we set out to do and it's time we moved on to other things. We're all still good mates and we'll carry on supporting each other whatever we decide to go on and do from here."

Little Man Tate, who released two albums, will play a farewell gig at the Sheffield O2 Academy on October 3.

That was my first thought too. :( "It's sad, this town, seems to fail to appreciate the man." :ohno:
