Crosby, Stills & Nash have resumed work on an album of covers with producer Rick Rubin. The trio already has seven tracks in the can and expects to record another dozen tunes. Rehearsals for the remaining songs begin this week.
The album, announced 11 months ago, is not expected to be released until at least the fourth quarter of this year. It will likely have about 14 tracks; among the keepers so far are versions of Gregg Allman's "Midnight Rider" and Bob Dylan's "Girl From North Country." It will be their first studio album since the 1999 release by CSNY, "Looking Forward."
Before the album is released, however, CSN will again embark on a summer tour. The group, sans occasional partner Neil Young, will perform in North America in June and then travel to Europe for six weeks. Upon returning home, they expect to tour the US for another month.
They did a similar run last year, playing North America in early June and then August through September, with shows in Europe in late June and July.
