I'm not sure that the soundtrack is going to appeal to me much, but the movie looks like it will be a lot of fun. All of the previews I've seen so far look really good. (And the book was quite entertaining.)

I agree with you Jon, I've had a couple of good laughs from the trailer. They definitely have my ticket money.

How do they get away with calling the characters Nick and Norah? They never heard of The Thin Man?

Yeah I thought the same thing about the choice of names. I guess they figure that spelling Norah with an H will get them of the hook. :-) Then again, their target audience has likely never even heard of the Charleses. (Honestly, the only thing I know about them is that the dog's name is Asta. I do a fair number of crossword puzzles and "the Charles's dog" and "the Thin Man dog" are frequent clues.)

Back to the new movie... The book on which the movie is based was co-written by a man and a woman. It's an easy read (since it's actually a book for teens.) The book gets inside the two characters' heads quite a bit. The man wrote all of Nick's chapters/thoughts; the woman wrote all of Norah's. Based on the trailers I've seen so far, the screenwriters took a LOT of liberties with the plot; but, if they capture the flavor of the characters and story, I think it will be really good.

Me too. :ohyes:

You oughta see some of the Thin Man movies, the first one especially. Crackling dialog, wonderful chemistry between William Powell and Myrna Loy.

Nick Charles: I'm a hero. I was shot twice in the Tribune.
Nora Charles: I read where you were shot 5 times in the tabloids.
Nick Charles: It's not true! He didn't come anywhere near my tabloids!

Anyway, today at 'Rama I got free passes to an advance screening of the new movie next week. I'll be there!

Where is the advance screening gonna be held, Jimbo? Manhattan or L.I.?
