Quarterflash is back with an astounding collection of 12 new tunes by Marv and Rindy Ross - the singer/songwriter duet that created Harden My Heart, Find Another Fool, and Take Me To Heart. Rindy's voice is more beautiful than ever on these guitar driven tunes written by Marv and produced by Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Wallflowers, China Forbes). [title]Goodbye Uncle Buzz[/title] features Rindy's lush vocals complemented by her trademark saxophone tone and Marv's uniquely tuned guitars and arresting lyrics. Though best known for their gold and platinum hits of the 80's, the Rosses twist folk, rock, jazz, and Americana voicings here into a new intimate hook-laden sound. Goodbye Uncle Buzz reveals stories of haunted love, dark childhood secrets, enduring friendships, and shared heartache. In many ways autobiographical, this new outing by the Rosses is their most honest and powerful work yet.

1. Crazy Quilt 4:35
2. Goodbye Uncle Buzz 5:33
3. Trying to Find a New Way 3:40
4. Nothing Runs As Deep As You 3:35
5. Rise Above 5:26
6. Brothers 3:59
7. In the Air 3:22
8. Home 4:19
9. The Child Who Raised Her Mother 5:02
10. Opening Doors 4:32
11. This Business of Music 3:46
12. At Least I Tried 4:30

I would say three-hit wonder, Renny -- "Harden My Heart," "Find Another Fool," and "Take Me To Heart."

Back in the '80s, I got to meet Rindy Ross at a Rock Music class at the University of Oregon I was involved in at the time as a student. It was also by coincidence that I was on the same airplane with her and Marv when I flew back home after seeing the '85 Springsteen shows at the L.A. Coliseum. I can still recall clearly looking out of my window seat at LAX and seeing a few guitars being loaded up. I saw the Quarterflash name on them and I immediately knew they were on board. I saw them when they boarded and walked by me.

Quarterflash never toured in their own private jet?

I have to give them credit, though. "Harden My Heart" is one of my favorites, a timeless song that will probably be played on Adult Contemporary radio for the next thousand years or so--even though many people seem to think it's a Pat Benetar song.

AMV,
I think they had just gotten done doing a television appearance or else they were doing some session work when I saw them board the plane. I asked Rindy about it when I met her at the University of Oregon. The passage of time has made me forget which of the two it was.

I had no idea they were even still around after all these years. I saw them open for Elton on his '82 tour, and they certainly pleased the crowd...

Wasn't "Take Another Picture" a hit for them as well? I remember them playing that, and saying at the time it was from thier upcoming 2nd album...

Jeff

I've always liked them, though i haven't played their cd's in years. Take Another Picture got some MTV play.

I have a King Biscuit Live LP with an absolute smoking version of Find Another Fool. Trivia: They were originally called "Seafood Mama". Geffen wisely had them change the band name!

The first album was great. I have a tape of a live performance (radio broadcast), and the version of "Take Another Picture" on there blew the album version away.

Checking out the previews now...but glad to hear they're still around.

"Rindy Ross" sounds like a name made up by Stan Lee, like she's the Hulk's girlfriend's long-lost identical cousin...with a secret!

Yeah, but Quarterflash to me was a glorified one hit wonder. I know they had at least two big songs, but they were pretty much done by the second album.
