Product Description
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Edwin McCain’s formula of earnest soul vocals over acoustic-led folk-rock has earned him a Top 5 Hit, a Top 40 Hit and another Top 100 Hit. In the midst of a career filled with self-penned songs, McCain recently took a rare break to record covers of his childhood heroes—a dream album of vintage R&B and classic southern soul songs. Nobody’s Fault But Mine features the songs of legendary artists including Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Al Green, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and more. McCain recently recorded the album with a dynamic band, including Eddie Bayers and Ivan Neville, plus special guests Steve Cropper and Joan Osborne. Nobody’s Fault But Mine was recorded in the spirit of a live album, with little studio overdubbing or tweaks. This vibrancy makes it intimate and adds to the charm.

1. Can I Get A Witness
2. The Happy Song (Dum-Dum)
3. Grits Ain't Groceries (All Around The World)

6. Ain't Nobody (Gonna Turn Me Around)

Thanks Linda. I missed this announcement back in April! (I'm always looking for recording contributions by any member of the Neville family. From the previews on Amazon, I can hear that Ivan does some backing vocals on the opening cut. His voice is as distinctive as that of his father, Aaron, but in a completely different way.) Personally, I prefer his voice to his dad's. The fact that Aaron is more pop/AOR and Ivan is hardcore funk probably influences my opinion as well.
