Radiohead score 'Fight Club' author's new film

Aug 12, 2008

Radiohead have written the score for forthcoming film 'Choke' – a movie based on a book of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, who wrote 'Fight Club'.

The Oxford band wrote a song for the final credit sequence of the film, which will be released in November, then agreed to score the rest of the film after seeing a working version of it.

Palahniuk told BBC 6music that the film's director, Clark Gregg, asked Radiohead to get involved because he knew that the writer had been listening to the band's classic 1992 single 'Creep' repeatedly while writing 'Choke'.

A final release date for the film and soundtrack is yet to be announced.

Radiohead 'not scoring' 'Choke' soundtrack

Aug 13, 2008

Radiohead have clarified their involvement in the film version of 'Choke'.

It was claimed the band had contributed a score for the film of Chuck Palahniuk's novel.

However a spokesperson for the band has told NME.COM Radiohead have actually only contributed a song to the film, with 'In Rainbows' track 'Reckoner' set to run over the closing credits.

'Choke' is due to open later this year.

Album is coming on 9/23... can't find anything yet on Amazon, though.

Death Cab, MMJ, Fiery Furnaces on Choke OST
With a Buzzcocks rarity, a new one from Blitzen Trapper, and, yes, Radiohead
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/n ... -choke-ost

As we found out a few days ago, author Chuck Palahniuk might just be even crazier than we imagined. But though his statements regarding Radiohead's involvement in the soundtrack to the film adaptation of his 2001 novel Choke proved greatly exaggerated, the film's music is certainly nothing to cough at.

Due out on ATO September 23 in advance of the film's September 26 release, the Choke soundtrack does indeed feature Radiohead's "Reckoner" as the credits roll. But it also features previously released favorites from Death Cab for Cutie, Fiery Furnaces, My Morning Jacket, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Twilight Singers, and Ben Kweller, as well as a few welcome surprises.

There's a rare version of the Buzzcocks classic "Orgasm Addict" sung by original member and eventual Magazine mogul Howard Devoto. There's a previously unreleased tune from Blitzen Trapper titled "Wicked", the Natural History's original version of "Don't You Ever" (covered by Spoon as "Don't You Evah"), a hard one to find from the Shout Out Louds, a new one from Alap Momin of Dalek, and a cover of the Doors' "Crystal Ship" by Nicole Atkins and the Sea.

Not included on the soundtrack, but featured in the film, is the score by Nathan Larson of Shudder to Think.

Choke:

01. Ben Kweller: "The Rules"
02. The Natural History: "Don't You Ever"
03. Fiery Furnaces: "Navy Nurse"
04. Radiohead: "Reckoner"
05. Alap Momin: "Sin Terror"
06. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: "Satan Said Dance"
07. Buzzcocks: "Orgasm Addict" (ft. Howard Devoto)
08. Death Cab for Cutie: "No Sunlight"
09. Blitzen Trapper: "Wicked" (previously unreleased)
10. Ms. Tyree Sugar Jones: "If You Feel It"
11. My Morning Jacket: "Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 1"
12. Shout Out Louds: "Bicycle"
13. Twilight Singers: "There's Been an Accident"
14. Nicole Atkins and the Sea: "Crystal Ship" (Doors cover, previously unreleased)
