Paul McCartney to record with his son

Nov 26, 2007

Paul McCartney is to record with his son, James, on his debut album.

The drummer and guitarist, the son of McCartney and his first wife Linda, has appeared on a handful of his father's albums, but has not struck out on a solo career until now.

The former Beatle said: "I'm actually doing some recording with my son. We're just looking at the idea of him making an album. He's doing it all. He's writing it all, laying it all. It's sensational."

Speaking to Billboard, McCartney added: "But there's nothing set yet. We don't know if it'll work. The plan is for me to just do some recording with him, and it's really exciting. I'm really loving it."

I'll be buying Mac Jr.'s CD just so I can put that baby up on the shelf right next to my copy of "Yes-No/Maybe" by Kenny Rogers, Jr.

Paul McCartney's son to release album with Dead 60s?

Jan 27, 2009

Paul McCartney's son James is reportedly working on an album with members of The Dead 60s.

The Beatles legend's son previously appeared on his father's 1997 album 'Flaming Pie', but has never released a complete solo album.

An unnamed musician who has allegedly heard James McCartney's music said he has written around 20 songs in total for the record, reports the Telegraph.

"James is a very talented singer and an exceptional guitarist," the source said. "He is actually as good a guitarist as his father and has written some excellent tunes with very good, strong lyrics.

"Some of it is loud, in the mould of Nirvana, and at other times he is quite mellow, rather like his dad."

In 2007 Paul McCartney told Billboard that he was working on an album with his son, saying, "I'm actually doing some recording with my son, James. We're looking at the idea of him making an album. He's doing it all. He's writing it all. It's sensational."

The Dead 60s split up in May 2008.

"Valotte" was a good album. Julian's problem was that he was essentially marketed as the reincarnation of John.

Don't know what type of material James McCartney will record but my first thought was that some might get him confused with Jesse McCartney.

When he tried to break away from that, he kind of faded away from the general public's view.

I remember hearing his song "Now You're In Heaven" and thinking it kind of sounded like Bowie.

Yeah, I never figured that out.................first album, he sounds like John, the second like Bowie. You really have to feel for these guys.........how do you compete with your father's legacy?????? And the same goes for Jakob Dylan. Wallflowers...........boring. M.
