EXTREME ANNOUNCE FIRST NEW ALBUM IN THIRTEEN YEARS:

Take Us Alive World Tour Launches In Poughkeepsie, New York on July 29

(June 9, 2008) New York, NY - This summer, Extreme will release Saudades de Rock (pronounced "sow-dodge"), their first studio album in thirteen years which will coincide with their first world tour in over twelve years. Saudades de Rock will be released on August 12th on Open E Records and distributed by Fontana.
The iconic rock foursome - vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo - recorded their fifth studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles with Bettencourt at the helm as producer and mixer. Saudades de Rock boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious roar of "Star," the groove-laden, swagger of "King Of The Ladies", a raw funk rock anthem called "Learn To Love", and the expressive ballad "Ghost."

"'Saudades' was always a beautiful word to me," Bettencourt explains about the Portuguese album moniker. "It expresses a longing; an underlying sadness for something or someone that's been missing in your life, and never quite sure if it will ever return. In this case, for us, it's Rock and Roll. Saudades de Rock."

Gary Cherone adds, "I like how it expresses that longing we've been feeling to play for our fans and be together again."

The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band's 2008 'Take Us Alive' world tour gets underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and will be anchored by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of America Pavilion. To date, the Grammy-nominated Extreme has released four albums, plus a greatest hits set-selling over 10 million records worldwide. On the strength of multiple world tours, they also achieved a #1 hit single, "More Than Words"- from their 1990 multi-platinum album Extreme II: Pornograffitti-on the Billboard Hot 100, which they followed with the Top Five "Hole Hearted." Although these two acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, it overshadowed the band's trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their predecessors Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen-fueled by Bettencourt's signature guitar flights and Cherone's resonant vocals-and matched with a social consciousness in their lyrics.

"Look ma, I just finished my third online Photoshop class!"

Does anyone remember the Extreme episode of "Bands Reunited" on VH1 a few years back. This Nuno meglomaniac was so rude he would not allow his image or voice to be filmed. I hope this is a bomb of epic proportions. Please, no one suppport this poser by buying this.

Actually, he was upset that he was bombarded by the camera crews after specifically asking them not to hassle him and that he would speak to them later. They didn't listen and he was understandably upset. It wasn't at all like VH1 would like you to believe. He and Gary Cherrone even talked at the time and agreed a reunion was not a good idea then but they did do a brief tour in 2004 and are now back together.
I'm not really a big Extreme fan but Nuno is an amazing guitarist. He might be a douche, I don't know, but in this case, he wasn't as much of a douche as portrayed, though I do hear he's quite the ass at times!

How do you know, were you there? Are you good friends with him, too? You, Nuno and John Payne hang out alot? He's too good to at least talk to the crew and say, on camera, "I'm just not interested in talking about Extreme." Oh, that's right, when his solo project BOMBED he decided "it would be a good time". Give me a break!

OK, were you there? I can play that game too. As nicely as I could, I just simply stated what was common knowledge. If you don't like it, that's fine, but do we need the sarcasm and nastiness? Really? What the hell is your problem? Would Nuno uttering that useless sentence have made one damn bit of difference? I'm glad you're hoping for failure for Extreme-they will be crushed.
By the way, I do know John Payne, and he's a very, very nice and talented guy. Just because you have some sort of hate for him doesn't mean I don't know him and doesn't mean he's not a good person. I'm sorry I know him, I can't take that back. It's real-it happened-I don't have such an imagination that I thought making that up would impress someone.
Realize this-you are posting on a music message board. Wow. Congrats-I guess John Payne should aspire to such lofty heights. You are another in a long, line of people trapped in their parent's basement. I'm going to hope you find some sort of outlet for your anger-maybe you could join an all-nude Menudo tribute band. Good luck with the whole bitterness thing.

Being as I am a professional businessman who can't spend all day on a message board, I haven't really had the time to properly respond to this intersting post, but I will. Number one, what a childish reaction. In what universe is that "common knowledge"? Maybe to someone like you it is, but to most people it isn't. The John Payne reference goes back to another case of you sticking your opions in where it wasn't needed a few months ago. The fact that this "fraud" is now going around touring as "Asia" is depicable. I'll bet that the guys in the Original Asia don't think he's such a great guy.

Now for your personal attacks, who's the angry, bitter one? The "all-nude Menudo" thing must be some junior-high type of gay insult. Most intelligent people realise that someone using these type of insults usually have some type of repressed feelings that they are ashamed that they have. Maybe some therapy will allow you to get in touch with those fellings you most likely have. As for the "parent's basement" thing, I bought my parents a house that they live in currently. I also made sure that their medical bills and long-term care concerns have been taken care of. What have you done for your family?
