It's about time! I was wondering where he was. I'm disappointed that Sonny Landreth won't be playing guitar though.

I like Sonny too, but I love Luther Dickinson's playing, and it's only getting better. He really cooks on the new NMA record. I have a boot of a 2005 show with John Hiatt, and Luther's playing really works nicely with Hiatt's songs.

What are the chances it will follow in the footsteps of Master of Disaster and be a hybrid SACD? (slim?)

Hi:

I got the advance on this about a week ago. A solid record. Although the fist song doesn't even sound like him. Had me going for a minute. I haven't heard about any SACD release for it yet.

I'm really looking forward to this one, too! Although, it doesn't look like it's going to contain John Hiatt's cover of "Aint No More Cane" (his contribution to the "Endless Highways" tribute to The Band, which ended up being a download-only from Borders). Does anyone know if that track is available on a physical CD anywhere?

John Hiatt's version of "Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos" is a bonus cut on some Australian versions of the Band tribute CD. I I don't think it's on all Aussie versions, but my copy has the song clearly marked as a bonus cut.

One of the best of his career based on my listening of advance...Luther is the essence of taste and the lyrics plus John's delivery at various points will make you alternately laugh out loud and shake your head knowingly
