Mick and Tony have been friends for over three decades and formed Carbon/Silicon during the early years of the millennium. They've released several albums worth of material as mp3s on their website but [title]The Last Post[/title] will be their first official release. Produced by the legendary Bill Price (The Clash, etc.), The Last Post returns these talented souls to the spotlight that they so deserve. Caroline.

The Clash's Mick Jones and Topper Headon reunite after 25 years

Jan 14, 2008

Fans of The Clash got a surprise as guitarist Mick Jones launched his new band Carbon/Silicon's residency in west London on Friday (11 January).

Playing the first Carbon Casino - which will see the band spend the next six Friday nights at Ladbroke Grove pub Inn On The Green - Jones was reunited with Clash drummer Topper Headon, who joined him onstage for the first time in 25 years.

Carbon/Silicon – which also features Generation X's Tony James – played a set of songs from their new album 'The Last Post', including ‘Why Do Men Fight?’ and ‘What The Fuck?’, plus included a curious snatch of war poetry between songs.

However the high point came during was the encore, when Headon appeared to play The Clash classics ‘Train In Vain’ and ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go?’ with Jones and co.

The first night of Carbon/Silicon’s residency saw a number of Clash followers and punk luminaries turning up with the Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock and ' Viv Albertine and Tessa Pollitt spotted in the crowd, while 's Don Letts filmed the whole gig.

Carbon/Silicon will play the pub again every Friday until mid-February, with an array of different artists joining them on the bill each week. Tickets are not sold in advance, but can be bought from the bar for £10 on the day of each gig.
