I hesitated for over a year before finally buying this box set. I am a big fan of Live CD's and this is easily one of the very best I've ever heard. The band is hot and tight, Prince is a very good guitar player, and the song selection is impressive- especially on the longer songs. If anyone out there is thinking about buying this recording, I highly recommend it.

There was also a 4-disc version available through NPG, but it's never been cheap enough for me to pick up (unlike, say, the 5-disc version of Crystal Ball) on the second-hand market.

used prince is an enigma.

you can get "crystal ball" and "emancipation" for pennies, yet "the gold experience" "the black album" (on CD) and the live box are expensive.

it's hard to even keep track of what is in print and what isn't.

No, alot of the sequences are meledies, and I have not picked it up - although a HUGE fan - for that reason (I don't want to hear a snippet of Do Me Baby, I need it in all its orgamsic glory).
I have also hesitated because I had heard / read negative reviews regarding the quality of the recording's sound. However, I wrestle with the purchase whenever I see it....maybe I shall tonight.

There is nothing wrong with the sound quality- very warm and open.
