The Dandy Warhols to release their own records

The Dandy Warhols have left their major label, Capitol, and plan to release their next album on their own label, Beat The World.

The move has come after the band’s last album, 2005’s ‘Odditorium Or The Warlords Of Mars’, sold poorly compared to its predecessors.

Speaking to Billboard guitarist Peter Holmstrom said: "We had interest [from major labels], but I didn't seek out any major label deals this time around."

The band’s manager Lee Cohen added: "We were all totally done dealing with major label incompetence. The last record was literally just dumped in bins at stores and they walked away from it."

The as-yet-untitled new album is expected to be released later this year.

Dandy Warhols reveal new album tracklisting

Dandy Warhols have revealed the tracklisting of their forthcoming album, 'Earth To The Dandy Warhols'.

The follow-up to 2005's 'Odditorium Or Warlords Of Mars' is being released on the band's brand-new label, Beat The World Records this summer, but is being featured in jukeboxes across the US beginning today (May 5).

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and guitarist Mike Campbell of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers are featured on the track 'Love Song'.

The band have also posted the album's first track, 'The World The People Together (Come On)', on their newly revamped website http://www.dandywarhols.com.

To celebrate these events and Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, the band are throwing a party tonight at San Francisco's Minna Gallery, which is open to the public.

I couldn't find a youtube clip, but I love the Ford ad where a bunch of people are driving in their new Ford Focus, and "Bohemian Like You" is on the radio. They're all mumbling along in tune, because they don't know the words until they get to "I'm like you, yeah I'm like you" which they sing in perfect unison. Then they go back to mumbling.
