Hell yes, it does! MTV 2's Headbanger's Ball has been playing "Shock Wave" for months now, and that song kicks so much ass it's scary. Old-school 80's Metal, and it's not Hair Metal thank God.
Did I read right that these kids are in their teens? I believe the singer/lead guitarist (who is amazing) is only 14? If so, that makes me sick! I can't even come close to playing like that and I've been playing for 25 years.
The solo on "Shock Wave" is a shred-fest and his voice is deep-almost like a pre-wasted Ozzy, although the other tunes I've heard were only OK.

There's a lot of controversy about whether these guys are for real or it's all just hype and that they're too young to really sing and play this good. Many say they didn't play on the album-I say they did. They're on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night, so I want to check it out for myself. One of the kids at my store burned the CD for me and it's pretty good. Very cliched and very Motley Crue (old Crue) influenced, but pretty good. Not original in the least, but it is fun. A nice cover of Metallica's "Hit The Lights" from Metallica's 1983 debut rocks.

From Blabbermouth.net:

Miami, Florida-based hard rock band BLACK TIDE has sold 11,400 copies of its debut album, "Light from Above", in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.

After months of anticipation, BLACK TIDE has finally unveiled the video for its blazing single "Shockwave". The Travis Kopach-directed (BUCKCHERRY, PANIC! AT THE DISCO) directed clip finds the group turning a non-descript suburban home into a frenzy of moshing fans and skateboarders pulling tricks on a half-pipe! The motocross bad boys of the Metal Mulisha also make an appearance making this video a throwback to the glory days of '80s metal!

Watch the clip at MTV.com.

"Light from Above" was released on March 18 via Interscope Records. The CD was recorded with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD and SOIL, among others.

BLACK TIDE burst onto the metal scene with a month-long stint opening up the main stage of Ozzfest. According to a press release, the band "not only embrace the charisma, character and unwavering attitude of those who shredded before them, but they do so in a manner that would make the virtuosos that inspired them proud. The results are a renegade metallic assault that America hasn't encountered since METALLICA killed 'em all in '83. BLACK TIDE are not only bringing music back from the dead, but they're returning the power to metal. The meltdown is long overdue…"
