For anyone interested, there's a new disc out of Mick Taylor. Apparently this is supposed to be an "obviously legal but most probably unauthorized" release, so I'm not sure what that means exactly. I found out about it -- as most new Stones releases -- here: http://www.nzentgraf.de/books/news.htm There's also a link on this Amazon site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000SM52MG/?tag=imwan-21

I just ordered a copy yesterday off ebay.

I have his excellent solo album (late '70's) Lowell George guests on one of the tracks.
Many people probably don't realise how much of the great guitar work he did for the
Stone's music. A real "class" musician.

He is a better guitar player than singer, but he's not awful. He can carry some of the blues tunes fairly well. I was hoping he'd put out some new stuff, but this will do for now.

Renny,
I'd love to have something like that happen. Unfortunately, I believe there's too many issues and one big hurt which will likely prevent that from happening. Plus, I'm not neccesarily certain his chops have the fluidity that he had when he was younger. But I would love it if he could be incorporated into some kind of a project with them where everything fits together nicely-especially musically and given a context that everybody is older now.

I don't know. I've seen the Rolling Stones on their last several world tours, and I was fortunate to catch Mick Taylor at a small bar a few years ago when he was touring in support of his "A Stone's Throw" CD. I don't think any of these guys have lost what they had. The Stones still have more energy, I feel, than most of the new artists out there -- and they have a sound that is unmistakably their own, and so very very good. In some ways I think they're better now than ever. As a matter of fact, I just finished watching their 4 DVD set, "A Bigger Bang", last night. Very impressed. As for Mick Taylor, he still has that fluidity you speak of, whether he chooses to play in that style or not. I do wonder how Taylor would sound with his old bandmates, though. It could be interesting.
