More Plant news...

Plant To Tour With Krauss Behind Sand
Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant is planning to launch a tour next year in support of Raising Sand, his collaboration with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss that's due out this Tuesday.
A video for the album's lead single, "Gone Gone Gone," currently is in the works.
In addition, Plant and Krauss will make an Oct. 24 appearance on NBC's Today, and will pay a visit soon to PBS' Charlie Rose.
The pair also will tape an episode of the CMT series Crossroads that will premiere in January.

I'm no expert on such matters, but haven't seen it advertised as any other version (except LP). My hunch would be no, just because this is a Rounder release and I've never seen alternate import versions of any music they control.

as far as i can tell, there is not a "bonus track edition". however, i burned a copy with alison singing robert plant's "big log" from her brother viktor's 2004 cd "far from enough", and it fits rather nicely!

I like Robert Plant. And I like Alison Krauss.

But I'm not feeling any spark here.

Gotta agree with ya. While I wasn't expecting this to rock, I expected at least a few uptempo tunes. I almost fell asleep listening to it...

I heard one of the tracks on XM the other day and wasn't impressed. Plant's adopted that gravelly whisper as his singing voice and it doesn't do much for me.

i really haven't read a good thing about this CD yet, the feelings about it being "boring" seem to be universal.

actually usatoday liked it very much, as do i. i think there is a real subtle chemistry between robert and alison. i find the cd to be a dark, moody, and melancholy masterpiece.

Actually...I don't find this pairing that surprising at all. In spite of the fact that Alison Krauss is one of the best known Bluegrass artists going, she's long admitted to loving "Classic Rock". Look at her cover of "Oh, Atlanta" for instance. I'm very interested to see how this all turns out.

:ohyes: She has a fantastic voice and IMO this combination works nicely. If you are only a fan of rock stay away from this but this is a very good album for people with varied tastes.

my gut feeling is that there will a lot these around used, very quickly.

many led zep fans will buy it because of plant, hate it, and return it to the used store.

J&R had it on sale for $8.99, opening week.

They were playing it in-store while I was there on Wed. I was singing along to "Fortune Teller" (which I know from the Stones version), and suddenly realized it was Robert Plant.

Judgment after first listen: slow, laidback, but with a couple of grabbers.

Just got to listen to this. If I hadn't known before listening that this was Krauss & Plant, I would have had no clue at all until the 3rd song. The voices on the first 2 songs don't sound like them. The 3rd song at least sounds like AK singing (very little Plant on track 3), but it's a hybrid of traditional Russian music & Bluegrass! Track 8 also has a bit of a similar flavor, but not as much Russian influence. Plant's first solo is track 4, & it also doesn't sound much like his voice there either though I do like the song. Plant finally sings in his normal voice on the 5th track. The best song is track 11, Plant's cover of Townes Van Zandt's Nothin'. Another thing that's odd for a duo album, is that many of the songs are basically vocal solos from one with a little bit of backup vocals from the other.

Don't know how much I like this one yet. It's isn't bad, but it's sure not what I expected. It's definitely more like an AK release then a usual Plant (though that may not be a bad thing as of late!). I guess I was expecting something more like the duet Plant did with Tori Amos on Encomium.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss plot US tour

Jan 18, 2008

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have announced plans to embark on a US tour this spring.

The Led Zeppelin frontman and the country chanteuse will begin their jaunt April 20 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The duo will also stop in Knoxville, Tennessee, on April 22, Chattanooga, Tennessee, on April 23 and Birmingham, Alabama on April 26, reports Billboard.

This could potentially thwart plans for a highly anticipated Led Zeppelin reunion tour anytime soon.

The duo will be joined on-stage by rock pioneer and their album producer T Bone Burnett.

The US tour precedes a UK trek that kicks off in May, as previously reported.

Further details and additional US dates are expected to be announced shortly. Check back to NME.COM for the latest updates.

Actually it's been confirmed she's been dating John Waite since they're duet on "Missing You" from last year...

Just bought my ticket for this show today (Louisville's a couple hours drive from home). I loved the album and now I'm excited about the show.

Plant seems to be the least interested in a Led Zeppelin tour, doesn't he?
