Tim Williams had no manifesto in mind for "When Work Is Done," other than to put out a solid album. "Nothing is premeditated when I write a song let alone a record. I'm not trying to be a lighthouse for anyone lost at sea except myself. I think when people do that the music suffers and no one can connect to it. I hope this record acts more as a wake-up call rather than a depressant."

Critics often compare Williams to Nick Drake; it's flattering, indeed. "People throw Nick Drake's name around like a fancy pair of shoes," Williams says. "Everyone thinks they look good when you have them on, but you don't really get to know them until they been rained on and worn in. I'm in no way offended by the comparison, I'm definitely a fan of his work. It just seems that people get into his music for the wrong reasons, i.e.: it sounded cool in that car commercial.

"The very first time I was compared to him was in high school. Someone came up to me after a performance and said I reminded them of him. I hadn't heard of him before so they asked when I was playing next and said they would be there. I had forgot about the whole thing until I saw the same person again with a copy of 'Five Leaves Left' for me. It blew my mind when I played it on the way home from the gig. The next day, I bought all of his records and have been a fan every since."
