Lou Reed's started a new direct-from-artist label and the first release is two nights of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Trio performing The Creation of the Universe. I've gone for the deluxe version (2 disc set mailed to me in late January with the full booklet, immediate download of the album - I'm listening to it now, and a digital version of the booklet.
The downloads come in FLAC or high quality 300 kbps MP3 formats. I chose the FLAC, but my download included both formats.
The album is definitely in the Metal Machine Music vein, but it's also very listenable. Clearly not for all tastes.
From the text on the site, Lou's planning to release all styles of music through this new endeavor, so if you're a fan, you'll want to visit occasionally to see what's being released.
