Description Steve Forbert, the veteran rock troubadour with over 28 years of acclaimed recordings and performances under his belt, has signed with 429 Records and will release a collection of all new songs, STRANGE NAMES & NEW SENSATIONS, on June 26th. The album features ten new original vocal tracks plus a new version of his signature hit "Romeo's Tune" as well as the instrumental, "Around The Bend" (his first recorded non-vocal track since 1980). STRANGE NAMES was recorded primarily at Moondog Music, the Nashville-based studio of E-Street Band member, Garry Tallent (who also plays bass and co-produced the title track) and was co-produced by Tim Coats as well as Anthony Crawford and Marc Muller. Long-time fellow musicians Paul Errico and Roger Clark return on keyboards and drums respectively. Forbert is currently on an extensive US tour with dates scheduled through October. In the time since his auspicious debut album, ALIVE ON ARRIVAL, hit the streets in 1978, Forbert has helped define the grey area of music that blurs the boundaries of the folk, rock and country genres. Never taking too much stock in the hype surrounding his music (with early success came the inevitable comparisons to Dylan), Forbert steadfastly forged his own path, creating a respected body of work known for wry wit, social consciousness and romantic optimism. With STRANGE NAMES, Forbert touches on a variety of subjects--some songs reflect beauty and romance, while others reflect the observations of middle age. "Simply Spalding Gray" laments the passing of (late performance artist) Spalding Gray while "The Baghdad Dream" focuses on the conflict in Iraq. Commenting on the creative process, Forbert says: "I've always been about the songs. I like the challenge of writing good songs that reflect new things that are going on around me. But the songs can't exist only on paper. Once I'm happy with what I've written, I work hard to make sure I've got a strong recording of it. I'm very happy with the results on STRANGE NAMES, which was recorded strictly with friends (most of them long-time) and I'm happy to have this new relationship with 429." Tracklist 1. Middle Age 2.
