Wow-besides being a generally solid best-of (but where's Computer God, Time Machine or Slipping Away?) for Black Sabbath:The Dio Years, we get a rare live CD from Rhino Homemade from 1981 on the Mob Rules tour in the UK!!! Only 5,000 copies though-agghh!
Has anyone ever ordered from Rhino Homemade? I must have this. Don't know if my friend at Rhino will be able to help me or not but I'll try!

From Blabbermouth.net:

Together for a short but memorable time — a trio of studio albums, a classic live album, and a couple of tours — the second coming of BLACK SABBATH began in 1979 when founding members Tony Iommi and Terry "Geezer" Butler were joined by Ronnie James Dio. The former singer of ELF (and later RAINBOW and DIO) added his fiery, demonic howl to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group's crushing mix of iconic riffs, gloomy grooves and doom-soaked imagery.

In late 2006 Dio, Iommi and Butler, joined by drummer Vinny Appice, reunited to record three new songs for Rhino Records' era-spanning collection, "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years". These recording sessions went so well that the quartet — billed as HEAVEN AND HELL — will launch a highly anticipated world tour this spring. The group will play a dozen dates in Canada in March before taking the stage of the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City on March 30 to play their only U.S. date until the band launches a full tour of the States later this year.

The first comprehensive introduction to the band's legacy, "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years" features a dozen classic studio recordings, plus one live track — "Children Of The Sea" from 1982's "Live Evil". The collection also contains the three brand-new tracks — "The Devil Cried", "Shadow Of The Wind", and "Ear In The Wall". The disc will be available April 3 at all physical retail outlets and at http://www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $18.98. The album will also be available at all digital retail outlets for a suggested retail price of $11.99.

Arranged chronologically, the compilation spotlights Dio's time with BLACK SABBATH and draws heavily from the lineup's 1980 debut and 1981 follow-up, "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" respectively. Recognized as back-to-back metal classics, the albums feature such signature songs as the title tracks, "Neon Knights", "Die Young", "Turn Up The Night" and "Voodoo". "The Dio Years" also features "After All (The Dead)", "TV Crimes" and "I" from the singer's brief reunion with SABBATH for the "Dehumanizer" album and tour.

On May 1, Rhino Handmade will release "Black Sabbath: Live At Hammersmith Odeon", which features Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice getting hot one December night in London during SABBATH's 1981 tour for "Mob Rules". Previously unreleased, the concert spotlights SABBATH as they storm through 14 of the Dio-era's best including "Neon Knights", "Heaven And Hell", "Children Of The Sea" and "Country Girl". The band also performs several pre-Dio classics, including "Paranoid", "Children Of The Grave" and a white-hot version of "War Pigs". The album will be available from Rhino Handmade as an individually numbered limited edition of 5,000 copies, available only at http://www.rhinohandmade.com for a suggested retail price of $19.98.

Wow, surprised to see a release like that on Handmade! I wouldn't wait around for your Rhino friend, as I suspect this title will sell out quickly.

In fact, I could see this getting a general release at some later point, a la Mark Mothersbaugh's Joyeux Mutato...

I know I'm being anal, but this should be in "from the vaults."

Analness aside, I'm really interested in the DVD as well as the three new tracks on the comp.

Yeah, with 3 new tracks I didn't know for sure where to post it, but if it needs to be changed, go for it.

I'm probably just going overboard - hey, it's news and as long as it gets posted that's all that matters. I'm just glad you got the info on there, IP.

I ordered the (Blue Oyster Cult precursor) "Stalk Forrest Group" CD from them a few years ago. I had no issues.

Hey-no problem at all. I kinda agree with you actually, so wherever it ends up is fine. Are you going to try to get the live CD from Rhino Handmade? And, what are my odds? I'm not going to bother my friend on this one.I think I called it Rhino Homemade earlier-d'oh!

I've ordered both the Stalk Forest & The Dan Hicks with no problems.

I Agree with mjb who suggested not to wait for an inside source. One of my wholesalers was supposedly carrying the Cactus Live set at a few $'s less then the official site. I ordered it from my wholesaler & completely missed out on it.

I've had both good and bad experiences with RH. The Malo box set was torture. At least 3 months of delays and miscommunications (they sent me a cancellation notice then retracted it) before it arrived. I have had a couple of straightforward transactions with them too.

I agree with the others though, don't wait. I missed out on the Judee Sill by going through another source.

I've ordered several items from them with no problems. I've been happy with the quality each time.

I've had good experiences. Ordered the two-fer Jo Jo Gunne and the Live Devo disc. But has already posted, don't wait to long. They sell out some titles very fast.

I've ordered a few things from them (including the Stalk-Forrest Group disc) and haven't had any problems.

That being said, this sounds like potentially a pretty popular title so I won't be wasting any time ordering it. As soon as I hear its avaiable (or they are taking pre-orders) I am diving in.

Nice to see Rhino Handmade dipping their toe in the hard rock waters!

If you really really want it i wouldn't hesitate in even pre-ordering it. Some of their titles don't sell that quickly, but this is likely to be one that will. I pre-ordered the Rhino Handmade Crazy Horse collection i think a couple of weeks PRIOR to the release date, and they'd been so swamped with even pre-orders, i barely ended up getting mine; almost missed out, even having pre-ordered. And then retailers and private sellers who buy mulitples end up selling them on eBay for Big Buck$ after they're out of print.

With any (potentially) popular Handmade release it pays to pony up the dough ahead, and they don't charge your card until it actually ships to you.

Thanks for the advice Rick, I'll probably go that route, and thanks to everyone else for chiming in!
Oh yeah, Sabbath rule.

I may. Hopefully it won't be remixed and overdubbed to hell like the Live Evil album. If I do, it'll be my first Rhino Handmade purchase. Too bad they just don't issue the live album with the newly recorded tracks tacked on so I don't have to get the new comp. :D

Wow-here's the first single "The Devil Cried", and it kicks major amounts of ass! Tony Iommi is God, and Ronnie James Dio is a close second! This song, is vintage, heavy, epic Black Sabbath. Yes!

According to Black-Sabbath.com, the new BLACK SABBATH track "The Devil Cried" is available for streaming via the Rhino Records web site. Check it out in the following formats:

Windows Media (100k)
Windows Media (56k)

"The Devil Cried" will be released in digital form to the public via all digital retailers on Tuesday, March 13. The song was written and produced by guitarist Tony Iommi and singer Ronnie James Dio and was recorded with bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Vinny Appice in November 2006 in the U.K. The cut was engineered and mixed by Mike Exeter, who worked on Iommi's "Fused" and "The 1996 DEP Sessions".

"The Devil Cried" is the first single off the group's forthcoming "best-of" collection, "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years". The first comprehensive introduction to the band's legacy features a dozen classic studio recordings, plus one live track — "Children Of The Sea" from 1982's "Live Evil". The collection also contains the three brand-new tracks — the aforementioned "The Devil Cried", plus "Shadow Of The Wind", and "Ear In The Wall". The disc will be available April 3 at all physical retail outlets and at http://www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $18.98. The album will also be available at all digital retail outlets for a suggested retail price of $11.99. Check out the cover artwork at this location.

And now it's official-the Radio City Hall gig will be coming to DVD and CD from Rhino! From Billboard.com:

Heaven And Hell Commits NYC Show To CD/DVD
Ronnie James Dio at Radio City Music Hall.

April 02, 2007, 1:15 PM ET

Wes Orshoski, N.Y.
Heaven And Hell, the resurrected, renamed, Ronnie James Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath, kicked off the U.S. portion of its spring tour Friday (March 30) at New York's Radio City Music Hall during a show that was recorded for a live CD and DVD release later this year.

The packed show, weighted toward Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" album, featured "The Devil Cried" and "Shadow of the Wind," two of the three new songs recorded for Rhino's new anthology, "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years," out today.

As Grim Reaper-like figures and massive crosses were projected on a curtain behind them, the Dio-led lineup seemed no worse for the years apart.

While it's been a decade since their last proper tour, Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice wowed a passionate and loud audience that roared during such classics as "Heaven and Hell," "The Sign of the Southern Cross" and the show-closing "Neon Knights."

"It's not about us, it's about you," Dio said toward the end of the show, thanking the crowd. "You supported us through the years, with and without Sabbath." Friday's show followed a string of Canadian dates. A longer run with Megadeth and Machine Head gets underway April 22 in Phoenix.

Here is Heaven And Hell's set list:

"After All (The Dead)"
"The Mob Rules"
"Children of the Sea"
"Lady Evil"
"I"
"The Sign of the Southern Cross"
"Voodoo"
"The Devil Cried"
Drum Solo
"Computer God"
"Falling Off the Edge of the World"
"Shadow of the Wind"
Iommi Solo
"Die Young"
"Heaven and Hell"

Encore:
"Lonely Is the Word"
"Neon Knights"

Can't wait to see the Philly show in May!

Although I found this from Blabbermouth.net where it seems the show could've been longer, but wasn't thanks to some idiots.

Launch Radio Networks reports: The BLACK SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN AND HELL shot a concert DVD at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Friday (March 30). By all accounts, the band's performance was great, with some long-time fans calling it the group's best show ever, but things didn't go as smoothly behind the scenes as they could have. Lead singer Ronnie James Dio told Launch that New York City union issues reared up hours before the concert even began. "We didn't have enough time for a soundcheck because the union went, 'OK, time for a break,'" he said. "'But we've only done half a song.' 'Time for a break.' 'But we've got 15 minutes left.' 'We said, time for a break.' You know that way that goes. So, all in all, it was more difficult than it should have been — but it is a city show, and that's what you've gotta put up with."

There were plans to lengthen the setlist for Radio City, but having soundcheck cut meant the band couldn't properly rehearse. They were planning to add the new track "Ear in the Wall" that's on the new album "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years", which comes out tomorrow (Tuesday, April 3).

HEAVEN AND HELL's setlist for the Radio City show was as follows:

01. [E5150 Intro]
02. After All (The Dead)
03. The Mob Rules
04. Children of the Sea
05. Lady Evil
06. I
07. The Sign of the Southern Cross
08. Voodoo
09. The Devil Cried
10. Appice Solo
11. Computer God
12. Falling Off the Edge of the World
13. Shadow of the Wind
14. Iommi Solo/Die Young
15. Heaven and Hell
Envore:
16. Lonely is the Word
17. Neon Knights

Check out pictures from the concert at Wire Image.

As previously reported, HEAVEN AND HELL will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" airing Wednesday, April 11. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). To find a station near you, check out http://www.rocklineradio.com.

Iommi, Butler, Dio, and Appice will be signing copies of "The Dio Years", on Tuesday, April 3 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Best Buy (44th & 5th Avenue) in New York City. Contact the store for further details: (212) 808-0309.

Several full-length video clips of HEAVEN AND HELL performing on March 13 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada have been posted online at YouTube.com. Check them out at this location.

HEAVEN AND HELL's U.S. trek with support from MEGADETH and MACHINE HEAD will launch April 22 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The show was awesome. Should make a great CD/DVD. We were all shocked that the band did come out at 08:10PM. We figured that union rules would eliminate all the opening acts that the other venues are advertising.

But it was better it was just Dio/Black Sabbath.
