Description
The new Styx album, Circling From Above (their 18th studio album and third since 2017), is a masterclass in songwriting and showcases their timeless ability to fuse prog rock technicality with sing-along anthems. The 13 songs were written by Tommy Shaw, Lawrence Gowan and Will Evankovich (who also produced the album). Leading with the single, "Build and Destroy," Styx take a close look at the near future and what is circling above us, from satellites to birds.

Tracklist
1. Circling From Above
2. Build And Destroy
3. Michigan
4. King Of Love
5. It’s Clear
6. Forgive
7. Everybody Raise A Glass
8. Blue Eyed Raven
9. She Knows
10. Ease Your Mind
11. The Things That You Said

Here's an additional article I saw today:

Styx Worried Their Label Wouldn’t Like Their New Album’s Concept

The title of Styx‘s upcoming album has been revealed, along with release plans for it.

Last month, the band participated in a question-and-answer session aboard this year’s Rock Legends Cruise and spoke about the new music.

Tommy Shaw noted that they’d recently finished the last song, “but the hard part is done and we are f****** thrilled. … It’s — I would say – completely new, but it’s not outside of, you know, what you’re used to hearing Styx do.”

But when Shaw, an avid birder, called up one of their label executives to tell him that the concept for the yet-titled album was a bird — a Starling, to be specific — he was worried about the response Styx might get.

“But he says, ‘Oh, we’re birders!'” Shaw recalled. “It was kind of risky to say this thing’s gonna be about a bird. But there was so much enthusiasm, and it’s like, you know, sometimes in life things just go your way. And this went our way.”

Didn't Tommy once say about Dennis "Not another concept album!"?

They already did The Mission. They probably just meant no crappy concepts.

Birds...circling from above...they should have called it Buzzard. Way more rock and roll.

That is an awesome album, especially drummer Todd Sucherman's performance in "The Red Storm".

The new song is fantastic.

Sounds like vintage 70s Prog-Styx.

Definitely echoes (ha ha) Pink Floyd and sounds a bit like Sheep.

They are on a serious roll with these Prog albums lately.

I didn't like the song at all. I thought it sounded like sub-par Alan Parsons Project until it got to the chorus, which was terrible.

Picking at the corpse of a once great band?
