Word has it the new Eagles CD may be released in June, but until there's an *official* date given... it remains to be seen...

Eagles Album Now Slated for June Release?
The Eagles' long-awaited album The Long Road to Eden reportedly now will see the light of day in late June. Singer-drummer Don Henley had announced a couple months back that the disc would be released by early May. Eden will be the group's first studio effort since 1979's The Long Run. Meanwhile, the Eagles' Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh will perform at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores' annual meeting April 24 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Eagles Album Due June

by Paul Cashmere - April 12 2007

The Eagles 'The Long Road To Eden', their first studio album since 1979's 'The Long Run' is expected to be released at the end of June, 2007.

Although no official date has been set for the release, US trade mag Pollstar has published what they say is the correct timing for the release.

The Eagles have been working on 'The Long Road To Eden' for a number of years and founder Don Henley has confirmed the title in a number of interviews.

Despite the long talked about project, it was only in January when bass player Timothy B. Schmit made a positive statement about the reality of a release. "We are making steady progress and I now believe there will actually be an album," he wrote in his diary at timothybschmit.com

Since 'The Long Run', The Eagles have released the four new studio songs 'Get Over It', 'Love Will Keep Us Alive', 'The Girl From Yesterday' and 'Learn To Be Still 'Hell Freezes Over' (1994); 'Hole In The World' from 'The Very Best of The Eagles' (2003) and 'No More Cloudy Days' and 'One Day At A Time' from the DVD 'Farewell 1 Tour: Live From Melbourne'.

In 2006, a bonus CD was issued exclusive to Wal-Mart with the Melbourne DVD with two more new songs 'Fast Company' and 'Do Something' as well as a studio version of 'No More Cloudy Days'.

It is uncertain at this stage if these tracks will be included on 'The Long Road To Eden'.

As a side-note to the Eagles studio activity, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh will perform on April 24th for the national Association of Chain Drug Stores in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Personally, I'd like to see all those stray tracks post Long Run gathered on this new album, but it is more likely that Eagles will want to release an album of all new tracks, so as not to disappoint the fans who have bought everything up till now.

Yeah...and if you listen to the concert version of "No More Cloudy Days" followed by the studio version, you quickly realize they are, in fact, the SAME. They obviously looped the studio version onto the video and added crowd noise.

I am a huge fan of their stuff, but I am increasingly fearing that this CD is going to be overly produced Adult-Contemporary drivel.

More likely, a Wal-Mart bonus CD...didn't they do a Garth Brooks deal to only sell their CD there?

BENTONVILLE, Ark., October 24, 2006 - The Eagles and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. today announced an exciting long-term strategic marketing agreement that will encompass sponsorship, exclusive audio and video releases, and product visibility. As America’s biggest supporter of the music business, this partnership will create significant additional holiday interest at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart and the Eagles will unveil further details of the agreement shortly.

The Eagles were attracted to a Wal-Mart partnership because of the retailer’s drive to take a lead in sustainability and make a difference for future generations. In the past year it has unveiled simple and straightforward environmental goals - to be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy; to create zero waste; and to sell products that sustain the earth’s resources and environment.

"Our partnership with the Eagles demonstrates how serious we are about giving our customers a choice of new, unique, world-class entertainment products," said David Porter, Wal-Mart’s vice president of home entertainment. "We are very pleased to be able to bring our customers an alliance with America’s greatest rock icons."

The Eagles - Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit - recently concluded their "Farewell I" worldwide concert tour, one of the top grossing tours in history. The band has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning four #1 U.S. singles and four Grammy Awards. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best selling U.S. album of all time, with sales in excess of 29 million. Their recent DVD release, Farewell I Tour: Live from Melbourne, has been certified 14x platinum. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

I suppose the irony here is that the typical WalMart shopper isn't typically the sort of person that can't afford the price the Eagles put on their concert tickets.

Yeah...I always find it amusing when one can purchase an artist's entire catalog for less than the price of one ticket. Makes you think.

The words "strategic marketing agreement" and "exciting" should never be used together.

Ugh.

I was being a smart ass above, please see the Sly Stone threads.

I do agree, any bonus disc would almost certainly be Wallymart only.
