Mr Wonderful is the new long awaited solo album by Legs Larry Smith, featuring the single “Oh Keoki” a tribute to Larry’s dear Friend George Harrison. “Legs” Larry Smith is a founder member of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band with whom he enjoyed enormous popular success with the 1968 hit single ‘I’m The Urban Spaceman’ and a series of five successful studio albums, also appearing in the popular comedic television series: “Do Not Adjust Your Set’ and “The Magical Mystery Tour’ 1967 film by The Beatles. He has toured or recorded with a stellar array of talent including Elton John, Eric Clapton, close friend George Harrison, The Who, The Kinks, John Cale, Todd Rundgren and Paul McCartney; Gus Dudgeon produced his infamous solo single: “Springtime For Hitler” for Arista in 1978. George Harrison wrote a song about him: ‘His Name Is Legs (Ladies and Gentlemen)’ he has tap danced for Elton John at Carnegie Hall, taken tea with Mae West, been invited to reside with Eartha Kitt on her LA estate, was a notorious prankster partner of Keith Moon, sang and performed the 1983 title song of: “Bullshot” by Handmade Films and has even spoken at the Oxford Union. “Legs” Larry has since been a key figure in all the Bonzo’s reunion recordings and celebrated concerts. A talented artist, and graphic artist, he has also produced album artwork for George Harrison’s 1982 ‘Gone Troppo’ album, created stage sets and directed rock ‘n’ roll ‘Legstravaganzas’ for Elton John and Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. He has had the pleasure of working and socialising with notable friends and acquaintances such as the likes of Groucho Marx, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Vivian Stanshall, Stephen Fry, Brian Aldiss, Sir Francis Rose, Ringo Starr, David Threlfall, Denis O’Brien, Gary Kellgren, Jack Patel (Newsagent), Clare Forlani, Stan Webb, Michael Caine, Liberace, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Sly Stone, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Derek Taylor, Neil Innes, Mary Hopkin, Jon Lord, The Faces, Mel Smith, Billy Connolly, Phil Jupitus, Paul Merton, Bill Bailey, Michael Palin, Ade Edmundson, Ray Cooper and was considered part of the ‘Henley Session Mafia.’ The elusive “Legs” Larry Smith, blessed with being one of England’s finer eccentrics has finally released a solo album. Modestly entitled: ‘Mr Wonderful’.
