I was almost too lazy to look it up, but some of these songs were released after Saxon was a working band. Not that you can't be inspired by your peers, but Wiki says Saxon formed in 75, so there's a lot of stuff here that is just "cool shit we liked at the beginning", and less "this stuff inspired us to play music"

Only the Kiss and Alice Cooper songs are from after 1975.
Plus, Saxon’s debut didn’t get released until 1979.
They weren’t even Saxon until 1978.
The previous covers album had two I believe that were after 1975, but again before their album came out and you can clearly still be influenced by other acts even after you’ve earned a record deal.
Their covers are always cool choices.
I interviewed Biff years ago and complimented he and the band for tackling “Ride Like the Wind” and “In the Court of the Crimson King” and he told me they’re all still big music fans and rarely listen to their own stuff.
Amazing that they continue to put out quality album after quality album and are still a successful band.
