See, I'm hearing something weird going on in Kiedis's vocal. Maybe light auto-tune/pitch correction. And the drums remind me of one of their other songs..."Otherside" maybe? I dunno. Not overly impressed with this opening salvo. Then again, for me, By The Way was their last decent album, and that's almost 20 years old now.

Someone made a reference to auto-tune on another forum. I didn't hear it myself, but I wasn't listening for it. Maybe I should try again.

I work with audio, so my ears just might be a little more sensitive to it. I can best describe it, I guess, as sort of a "metallic sheen" to some of the vocals, especially parts where he sustains a note for a bit.

Listen to the word "supply" at 22 seconds. I can hear really hear it in that word.

I don't really hear auto-tune but there is something going on there with his voice. When I heard this on Pandora without seeing who it was I didn't recognize his voice until the chorus. Seems like he is putting a weird accent on his voice.
Fruciante's guitar solo is a little more traditional than most of his earlier stuff, sticking close to the bass line, but pretty tasteful and I like the way he ends it. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
