Pixies Announce New Album for 2019, Plus Lead-Up Podcast
A new chapter is being written in the Pixies' legacy: The New York band announced late Wednesday that a yet-titled new album will be released in September.
The latest rendition of the group includes guitarist Joey Santiago, singer and guitarist Francis Black, drummer David Lovering and bassist Paz Lenchantin. The album will be produced by Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, Pixies' 2016 album Head Carrier) and was written during 2018. The band recently recorded in December at Dreamland Recordings near Woodstock, N.Y. This will be the group's second album as a unit and the eighth overall Pixies studio recording.
Perhaps a sign of the times, the notoriously quiet band behind-the-scenes will accompany the project with a 12-episode podcast, giving fans some perspective into the recording process.
Starting June 27, the Past Is Prologue, Pixies podcast will debut new installments each week leading up to the album's release. Hosted and narrated by New York Times best-selling author Tony Fletcher, the series will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Acast, Stitcher and Google.
Watch a video teaser for the podcast above.
Prior to the new album's September release, Pixies will play shows with Weezer for a five-week arena tour, including a handful of Pixies headlining shows.

Amazon UK has announced an autographed edition of the CD which will be available only from them. Amazon UK's exclusives tend to sell out quickly (usually before the release date), so it's best to pre-order as soon as possible:

Don't matter, I love this band with Frank Black & Joey Santiago I will always be in so pre-order is in. I understand how Simon feels, I miss Kim too but it is what it is.
